aaahh so thats who the creepy woman showing up was! That story is super popular, Oiwa was a beautiful woman that got disfigured by some kind of facial cream that was given to her by a woman that was in love with her husband. After she was disfigured, the husband wanted nothing to do with her, but divorcing because your wife is ugly wasn't possible, so he paid someone to rape her so he could divorce. That obviously fails terribly, Oiwa dies, curses everyone and becomes a vengeful spirit. I like how this manga brings famous ghost stories but has that wholesome feel. Wholesome horror yay!

Is it just me or are a lot of asian ghost stories just failed attempts to convince men to not be monstrously evil to women?

In the old time, women are all treated like shit and have no value or opinion or whatever, so it's only reflecting real life ^^; . I guess it's even worse in Asia with the influence of Confucianism, patriarchal system or something. (Im Asian btw xD)

If ya ever read any Greco-Roman or Hindu/Buddhist or Abrahamic tragedies, I'm afraid these kinds of stories are pretty universal. It's most likely, as mentioned, because women were always treated as subhuman by these advanced ancient societies, so it was not only a reflection of reality but also the elders of the society trying to establish some sort of morality within men to not treat women as poorly as they do lest they be cursed

So, whats with the slug imagery? I didnt really see any connection.

Slugs are hermaphroditic and mate by wrapping around each other, so their association with lesbianism has been a thing for a long time in literature.

There's another cute classic which also made the slug comparison a long time ago, here on dynasty, if you wanna check it out

Um... is there any reason why this story is not tagged as Yuri ?

My best guess is that it was a mistake that'll be corrected

exhentai

... slug sex...

It's translated now. Here's the Dynasty Link

........once slug was said all I could picture was some National Geographic Garden special on the mating rituals of slugs -_- dammit

As a creepy-animal-sex-facts-lover I enjoyed that.

Also, lesbian sex in manga referencing slug sex can be more on the nose.

It finally got scanlated after all these years, just in time for its 10 year anniversary. Here's the Dynasty Link

My prediction is that one dear to her that taught her how to cook was the one who betrayed her. She doesn't remember what she looks like but the reason she gravitated towards the MC was because the MC bears striking resemblance to her (possibly even a reincarnation and/or descendent). That's also where the "I'll never forgive you" comes from. She'll never forgive her old lover for betraying her but can't help but still feel fond memories towards her which she puts on the MC

Huh, guess she was dizzy. Interesting to see she didn't get the scars from a motorcycle accident or anything but as a childhood injury. With her leaning her head on Matoi, I'm interested to see where the series is headed. It's probably not towards seggs like people were predicting early on since it seems the series wants to double down on asexuality but I could be wrong

Fuck, I had skimmed past the second chapter thinking it was Yuri not really noticing it was het and recommended it, earlier, thinking it was a missing chapter never posted. Big yikes. On the bright side, I requested a correction on a mistake that was made with the scanlator so I guess that's good.

We do not like his method of google translation and mspaint editing, and more to the point we do not like him.

Damn, that's a pretty harsh description. Is there any story to that?

I don't mind the rainstorm trope. Healthy young adult fainting in the bath, though? Come on.

I don't think she fainted, she probably slipped.

Ye, I agree, she probably slipped, which is pretty easy, with a bath, since they are wet and smooth and all

Araoshi Yu's other manga, Yuri Love Slave, has a manga. It's fine but I can tell it's certainly rushed from it's LN and VN counterpart

I was afraid this would go down a weird route but thankfully it didn't.

Also, since we're bringing this up anyway, I think I might be demiromantic (but not demisexual, definitely NOT demisexual). I feel sexual attraction very easily but I have to know the person for a long time (even if only through the internet) before I feel romantic attraction.

Tbh, I think everyone is like that. Love, itself, is something that only develops over time, bonding with someone. You might be thinking of infatuation, which is different from love.

Nah, Girl, you are neither aromantic nor asexual. What you are has a name, and it's called a late bloomer.

Actually, this is exactly why you shouldn't try to diagnose yourself, but rather let a doctor/specialist do it. Because be it medicine or psychology, most people will get it wrong. Also asexual people are rare. Most people have some kind of sex drive, sometimes weak, sometimes suppressed, but nothing at all is just very rare. Thinking that you are asexual, without even trying to date is... well you're likely mistaken.

"Late bloomer" my ass, go be acephobic elsewhere. She's demi, likely demiromantic asexual. Acespec people are more common than you think, and saying

Thinking that you are asexual, without even trying to date is... well you're likely mistaken.

is like saying "Thinking that you are gay without even trying to date the opposite gender is... well you're likely mistaken"

Alos need to stop acting like they're the default and that acespecs need to "prove it", it's no different than cishets doing it to other queer people.

Rather than calling 'em acephobic, you should just try to kindly explain to them why they're wrong and educate 'em. Chances are, they are not a bigot but just ignorant, and could just use some educating on the subject. It's far better than jumping to conclusions and taking a more hostile approach, honestly.

Welp, looks like my predictions were right. That being said, I still don't really think Yoriko is ace but that it is about the scars. At the same time, I also do think, even if she didn't have the scars as an excuse, she'd still be mostly disinterested in sex. In a way, I'm reminded of the indifference Ryoji Kaji felt towards Asuka, in Evangelion; an older person who's mostly disinterested and indifferent towards what's basically a kid who's fallen in love with them.

Btw, Ogino Jun eventually released a NSFW sequel chapter for those of you who are interested

I don't get where that is supposed to fit within the timeline of the series...? Is it meant to be after she comes back? Also, it kinda ruins the openness of the open ending, which was part of what made it so powerful, so that's a bit of a bummer...
I'll just think of it as an AU thing and try to wipe it from my memory I guess.

(I only skimmed through it, but the NSFW parts were surprisingly not-over-the-top, compared to other stuff I've seen from the author, so there was at least one good thing to come out of this lol)

I think, rather than an AU, it could take place like a year later. Basically, my theory on the ending is that the MC turned herself in but got acquitted due to lack of evidence. However, being in jail awaiting trial and pleading guilty may have been enough for her to feel some sort of atonement and she went back and meeting her Senpai once more and Senpai convinces her to embrace the atonement that she got and move on towards the future she crafted. And ofc that results in her and Senpai hitting it off and we got the extra chapter that we did

it's like someone realized that the volume is ending and there is still plot to advance

I feel like we don't really need any of this (the male coworker, Rio) to advance the plot, though. I think it would have been more natural to, after their separation, build on the growing romantic feelings between them. It could have been an interesting story about a relationship that is romantic in nature, but not sexual (with the absence of sexual desire (and acceptance of it) being an actual theme, something I was quite excited about when starting this manga). It might still end up being about this, but the pacing and tonal shift of this chapter is pretty jarring.

I may be wrong but isnt that thing about absence of sexual desire just a misunderstanding? I thought it was bc of Yuriko scars that she said that

That may certainly be part of it but I do think she might be muted in sexual orientation, too. She never really denied whether she has an interest in men or women, just that she won't engage in sex, but these recent chapters seem to suggest that she might be interested in whatever interests her (demisexual?) but she's still pretty much uninterested in sex, even if the scars might just be one reason for it

I feel like we went from snail pace to full throttle in half a second.
If we were talking about a car I'd love it and say 'Wow, atta cool acceleration!' but when it's about fictional romance I'm not sure it works so well for me....

Honestly, though things could escallate more with Rio, I think the sister is just fucking with Yoriko. And mind you, this is coming from me, who mentioned earlier that the sister might actually be a lez but is shifting through men to try to find the right person unbeknownst that she should be looking for a woman. However, this chapter suggests that may not be, because she understands what it means to look into women, but now I lean on the side that she's just trying to figure out Yoriko's relationship with her sister and figure out whether they were into each other in that way or not. However, only time will tell whether this is also wrong or not.

I honestly don't get romantic attraction either. Because there doesn't seem to be a consensus on what is romantic? Like sexual arousal by someone's body is an indicator of sexual attraction. But what's romance? People often list things friends do together but the rest sound mildly sexual, like I don't think you could do those with someone you'd never find sexually attractive.

Sexual arousal isn't so much love as it is lust. I think looks can certainly be a hook that gets you interested in fucking a person but to love them is something that develops over time, as two people meet, hang out, bond, and embrace each other. Call me a romantic (no pun intended) but that's how I see things.

Oh great a wild jackass that can't take a hint and is miserable to work with has appeared.

Welcome to the countryside, where tons of jobs are handed out due to nepotism. :/

And that's different from the city, is it?
I think it's more obvious in the countryside because the community is more insular and everyone knows each other. In the end, nepotism is not only unavoidable, due to the small population, but also far more open, accepted, and visible.

In the city, on the other hand, it's possibly just as common but kept under more of a tight lid since there isn't as much of a community, with there being a very large population and all

Man, this chapter was constructed almost like the ending of the manga. Had me fooled for a minute, until I remembered the unresolved plot threads, like the scars. Will be interesting to see how it goes from here with the long distance between them after the move.

I think it is the ending of the volume, though, so I guess it makes sense if the volume itself concluded what seems to be the first arc

Supportive parents... how rare is that!?
No, seriously, between the woke of the west and the conservative thoughts of Japan, I thought it was a stable to just make parents behind the times.

Don't take me wrong, I understand the reason behind said trope, but it is quite refreshing to see a twist for a change.

Yeah, and at this point, it would be super forced to have a plot where the family is unaccepting that she might be into a girl or some shit so I hope this stays.

At the same time, methinks motorcycle girl's parents might be the unaccepting ones (we've heard she has a rocky relationship with her parents) but I still hope it doesn't lead to a forced plotline of them disapproving of their daughter's relationship with another woman

I really like Matoi's family. They are supportive without being pushy and give actual practical advice.

I hope that stays, too. I'd hate for there to be some forced plot where the family is unaccepting that she might be into a girl or some shit. It's so cliche at this point
