Now, now, this is by Myon — this Ayumu got over Yu in a big multichapter epic.

It's very sweet. Looks like Yu was over for a late night gaming session and dozed off...

This is just plain adorable.

I've always wondered how much of the fan animosity in the SIFAS days towards Lanzhu and from Karin and Ai joining her Association in season two came from the fact the whole situation was framed for us by Kasumi, the one member who took it as a personal betrayal. So it's great that we did eventually get to those two being so close.

... explaining the motivation of teasing is tacked on, pointless, or forced? It's not exactly uncommon to see Rin's canonical attachment to Maki read as some degree of interest, and revealing that Rin is teasing Maki because she's feeling kinda jilted makes sense for this story. "I get that she feels that Nico is especially important to her — but it hurts that she doesn't feel that I'm special to her at all."

(I mean, Nozomi would instigate things without any personal stake in the situation, but if Rin weren't feeling hurt, she probably would have just bugged Maki to set personalized ringtones for everybody, instead of the focused needling here.)

Tacked on would be something like the back half involving Honoka coming out of nowhere to complain.

Oh, god, it's anime!Ayumu getting possessed by the evil spirit that possessed Famitsu!Ayumu. That's a thing of beauty.

(Though now I think of it, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is such a weird game to even exist. I mean, it's a licensed game of a comic from Valiant Comics, of all the obscure comics publishers. And Valiant didn't create him; the '90s Valiant book was a revival of the character, who first appeared in 1954.)

There's something of an adversarial edge to a lot of SetsuKarin depictions, and I'm not entirely sure where it's coming from. I'm thinking specifically of Setsuna's coldness here and in the other "SetsuKari Book", and in "SetsuKari Precious", where Karin's teasing has more of an edge to it, and Setsuna seems to be retreating to, well, more of a Nana mode. Maybe it's coming out of the start of season 1 of the anime?

That's a long way around to say I enjoyed this, but enjoyed Setsuna being flustered more than her being cold.

This is very cute and sweet, but here I am wondering what this does for my theory that the God of School Idols is actually Yu.

(To explain: the Famitsu 4koma, the very early comic that had jerkass!possessed!Ayumu, and which is the origin for Sasuke and Ayumu's trip to Mars, is practically the only Ayumu material that doesn't mention her childhood friend. It does, however, show that she's close with the God of School Idols, a plushie of whom is there on the bed — and therefore the God of School Idols is actually, in some manner, her childhood friend, whether that's the SIFAS PC or Yu. )

(Of course, if you ignore that theory, you're left wondering exactly who is the God of School Idols. My alternate theory was that they're one of the gods of the Great Kanda Shrine, as seen in SIP, but when I checked the gods enshrined there are Daikokuten, who blesses harvests and matrimony, Ebisu, who blesses fisheries and business, and the tenth-century revolutionary Taira no Masakado, none of whom seem particularly school idolish. Sumire's family's Onden Shrine is built to Omodaru and Ayakashikone, a couple who also bless marriage, as well as skill at art, which is closer? Then again, there's the long-standing fan theory that Honoka — given her apparent powers of weather and gravity control and time travel — is a god, or maybe even the God. So maybe the Famitsu comic had cameos from two members of μ's.)

I actually looked it up — I thought it would, from the timing, be Riko's initial UR, but the costume confirms that it's her second one, her first Spotlight UR, A Clear, Unwavering Melody/Blossom Prelude. https://allstars.kirara.ca/card/120

Wooo. Rina's got them figured out, certainly, though I'd wager Shioriko isn't going to clue in very soon.

Rina's always been very into Umi. Umi's SIFAS bond stories included a sequence where Rina tried to get Umi to take her as an apprentice — including the line, "If I can't call you master, can I at least call you Onee-sama?" — and the Daily Theatre episodes include http://sifasdt.waxwolf.com/?date=2021-04-29 .

I mean, the implication of Haruka touching her lips at the end is that she was aware of Chihaya's first kiss, back in the office, and that Haruka was feigning sleep — and potentially had made up that they'd planned the sleepover — to tempt Chihaya into doing exactly what she did.

Yes, this is no way to conduct yourself in real life, but if your sexual morals come solely from your pornographic reading, you've got bigger troubles.

Yeah, going back and seeing this with a pre-Yu version of Ayumu's childhood friend is a little vertiginous.

As I think of it, though, while anime!Ayumu is more extreme in her actions than SIFAS!Ayumu ever is, I think she hides her jealousy better? Like, you catch other characters — I think Ai and Karin, mostly — teasing her about acting jealous in the game, and nobody really picks up on her tells in the anime. Hmm.

I mean, Nijigasaki has all the clubs, of course they have an oil massage club. (Though I wonder — are they a well-established club of many years, or did they have to fast-talk Nana or Shioriko to get a club room and funding, and if the latter, which?). That they're all Ayumu's fans, and apparently YuPomu shippers, is beautiful.

Yeah, of the three girls from Rina's class, Kyoko is the one who's Ayumu's particular fan; in Rina's episode, she fangirls at Ayumu briefly at the arcade, and then she's the one who's setting up Ayumu's stage for the School Idol Festival with Yu. It's nice seeing the side characters get some attention.

...wow. Yow.

(And of course Yu didn't figure it out even after writing a very direct love song.)

As much as I love the YuPomu here, I also love the way all the other girls also want to sleep with Yu. Tokimeki indeed.

EDIT: Oh, geez, I'd missed the author's note and didn't realize it was before Yu even got named? That it's technically AnaPomu is even better.

Adorable!

The Washi Washi saga is, for my money, one of the top two funniest series of episodes from the SIFAS Daily Theatre. Mari tells Ayumu that "Washi Washi" is a really fun game, and she should ask Nozomi how to play; when Ayumu does, her bright-eyed innocence makes Nozomi panic, and she gives Ayumu head pats instead, calling it the "trial version". Things proceed from there, dragging in the other most innocent girl, Rina. The episodes are collected at http://sifasdt.waxwolf.com/?theme=Path+to+the+True+Washi+Washi

(The other funniest series is the way that A•ZU•NA become Yoshiko, er, Yohane-sama's bodyguards, prepared to repel attacks from marauding angels and/or invade Heaven to place Yohane on the Throne of God; that one's collected at http://sifasdt.waxwolf.com/?theme=Defend+Mistress+Yohane%21 .)

I dunno — in S2E10, when Kasumi volunteers Shizuku's house for the "training camp" and hangs out with Ophelia for late night plotting, it comes across as if she's over there all the time. I mean, it's no being tackled onto a sleep sofa, sure, but...

I get the feeling that Riko is aware that You's amnesia is mostly feigned — but how aware You is of Riko's knowledge is iffy. There's obviously something that is preventing them from admitting things, and it doesn't feel like just cowardice. Is one, or are both of them, cheating? Y'know, just to compound things.

Or it could just be that the first time, You genuinely forgot, or impulsively lied about forgetting, and Riko is genuinely unaware and keeping the pattern up out of warring lust and guilt, and You ditto. It at least doesn't feel like this is the first time You has remembered. Hrm. This is just the sort of story that keeps my mind poking at it.
