Another vote for "they deserved it" from me. I was bullied all through elementary school. It only stopped in junior high when I broke one girl's nose, three of her ribs, and apparently nearly punctured a lung. Yes, girls are violent too...could be because I grew up in NYC though.

I got suspended, I got in massive trouble, I almost got expelled, but you know what I didn't get? That's right: more bullying. Bullies are cowards, some of them are sociopaths, and the only thing they understand is pain. My only regret is that I didn't do worse to her.

It's too early to judge yet, but based on previous work (Yuunagi Marbled) I suspect it is going to be a straightforward case of abuse.

I thought YN's ending was just a little bit too pat, and if anything Aki is going to be even more damaged than Mishio was. And dating a teacher as a student, especially (can we please remember this...?) a 13 year old, sounds like a Bad Idea. She might be best served by waiting for love until college and going to therapy.

There is no way this is going to end well. Madarame-san is...well, if this were real life, the only explanation for her behavior would be previous sexual abuse. Yuunagi Marbled went into some fairly dark territory, but this looks like it has the potential to be much, much worse, and this time, there's no Ena-equivalent...

No.

No no no no.

Get this stuff off here. This isn't cute, this isn't funny, this is horrible. Fantasy or not, no one that young should be even thought of in this context. Seriously, this site is going to end up on some list somewhere.

Mishio is hurting, badly. She needs rescued, but in the state she's in it may not be possible. I admit to groaning and rolling my eyes at the revelation that she's a cutter, but so far the mangaka has handled what looked like a storm of cliches fairly well. So let's see what she does with this revelation.

This and "The Rain and the Other Side of You" have grabbed me by the heart and won't let go. I want to see where they both lead.

There are a fair amount of deliberate subversions of this trope actually...one good example being my avatar here, who virtually changes phase from solid to liquid when Hatsumi is concerned. This has almost become a stereotype: the tall, scary, silent girl with the huge burning blue eyes and hair down to her knees who turns into a melty teary-eyed puddle of lesbian Jello where her girlfriend is concerned.

...actually, that's a fair description of me.

That would be an interesting twist, but let's see what's really happening here. Reiichi-kun might not actually be cheating. We just don't know yet. Like, okay, it's weird for the lesbian to be pulling for the het ship, but until he proves to be doing what we suspect he is, give him the benefit of the doubt.

...of course, if he is cheating, I hope Kaoru dumps him like 75kg of compost and pairs off with someone who actually loves her.

Gods, reading this series has been a roller coaster...it hurt a little, too. I really hope Mei does right by Yuzu but there's no guarantee. Yuri has a long, long history of tragic endings, especially in the older material.

Mei is hurting, but at the same time, she's tearing poor Yuzucchi up by acting like this. Some part of me actually hopes Yuzu gets sick of it and dumps her for someone else, as unfair as that may seem.
