An Update?! WOW so... Is this the end? I'm not sure how many chapters were out there, but I'm very scared to return to this story after a 5 years hiatus, so please I just want to know how many chapters this has before coming back TwT

This has 9 chapters as far as I know. Volume 2 has the remaining chapters. The raws for 3.5 and 4 were provided by Phyis, and YP doesn't have chapter 5 and on. If anyone would like to see this series completed, it would be great if they could buy the kindle edition of this and provide us raws so we can finish this series. Other than that, this is as far as we can go.

I know nothing of the Touhou material, so I probably wouldn’t recognize a plot reversal in the author’s work there if I saw one, but I can’t think of any reason inside the text or out to expect a major turnaround in this one. “Bittersweet” is certainly still in the cards—these are two people who still have yet to mutually express their feelings toward one another, after all—but this series has constructed its story so methodically all along that I’d be shocked if it were to veer in some major unexpected direction.

Well, it could all go predictable with a happy ending as well, but I trust Nio will want to mislead and surprise us in some way.

Edit: Oh, yeah, and I wouldn't bother with her touhou stuff unless you're really into touhou. I read some of them, and it's kinda hard to pick up the subtleties without some knowledge of that universe. I'd recommend one or two of them, tough.

And Touko still said "I love you" to Yuu, despite everything. I haven't checked the raws, but if the translation is accurate, I wouldn't be too alarmed for the lack of kiss. I was glad Touko isn't shrugging Yuu off, at least not yet.

There's a chance they'll end up together and all, but I don't think it's gonna happen just yet. That would be things going too smoothly, and Nio has a record of unexpected plot twists and bittersweet endings.

Well, we've already seen that after the play Touko's depending way less on Yuu, and that makes Yuu feel cast aside. Should there had been a kiss on this last chapter we could assume a happy end soon, but Touko only hugged her, which might be her way to show gratitude. Yuu loves Touko, but she feels that Touko's change has also changed their relationship, and Yuu dislikes that.

I think we're about to see a shift of perspective, the story so far has revolved around Touko, maybe from this point on we'll see Yuu confronting her own feelings and asking herself what she wants of Touko. Just a guess maybe.

You're right about Nakatani not taking the story conclusion lightly, she's one heck of a storyteller, so whichever way this goes it will still be a great read.

As for Touko joining the troupe, it felt like a bad idea. Even after she expressed the rationale behind it, i cannot shake the feeling.

I think the idea here is that Touko is starting to pursue her own interests instead of copying her sister. Her being praised as an actor was an achievement of her own. Conquering things by herself, building her own personality and interests, that might be an important step for Touko to stop hating herself.

Well that's just my take on it. I have a bad feeling too about Yuu confessing her feelings to Touko, even now.

The OP is referring to this scene when they say "dodge the issue", given that Yuu is clearly in denial and that's why the speech bubble covers up the words.

I wouldn't say Yuu was in denial at that point. At least for me the speech bubble thing was just Nio toying with our little gay hearts. But I get your point ;)

I took the raws and translation from Chapter 4 from here and did editing/typesetting. I'm not into any scanlation group, and I'm not sure I have permission for this, but oh well, I had the skills and I just hate to see a good series remain stalled. I'll wait to see what the feedback from YuriProject is for this, and if everyone's ok with it I'll keep going.

Update: Seems they're ok with it, will edit 3.5 and 4, should be done soon. YP doesn't have raws or translations for 5 and on, though.

Every new chapter of this is a masterpiece.

This was a lot better than I expected at first. I can't really say I relate, but I feel that I can learn some valuable things from this.

Once more the lack of a tag is a spoiler in itself (no "age gap" teehee)
