1, That's not what proof means.

1. None of those lines used words for romantic love in Japanese, so they're not definite and still up to how you interpret it.

2. Convincing people isn't going to win you anything, and won't change the fact that it still hasn't been conclusively stated either way in the series. And anyone who actually cares enough will probably already have their own interpretation, so I'm not sure how successful you'll be.

Okay, so maybe i'm not 100% familiar with Japanese phrases, but i'm trusting the translators

What we know so far

• You can't swap with animals
• Swapping twice, leads to a regular kiss
• Lip contact is the only method
• You and your partner have to be conscious

Now there are 2 more factors to consider
Either you can't swap, while already swapped, or you can't swap with a normal person

By next chapter, this revelation should be cleared up

They also kind of have warped senses, and have only ever said they do it because they enjoy it, so there doesn't seem to be any emotional element to it. Which is why I find it tough to define them as dating.

Akiho and Fuyumi pretty much jumped straight from "childhood friends" to "functionally married" without passing "Go" bothering with the various intermediate steps. To all appearances by now their relationship is such a natural and self-evident part of their lives they don't even think about it and would probably get rather confused if you asked them for some kind of definition.

Hell, Akiho keeps wanting to kiss other girls.

She's also a troll and would hardly be the only one curious about how widely applicable the bodyswap thing is...

Look, all I'm really saying is that the series itself hasn't said anything definitively either way. And that until it does, Akiho and Fuyumi's relationship is in a bit of a Schrodenger state, and is entirely up to how someone interprets the characters.

Sure, they are effectively already dating, but in many respects so are Natsuko and Haruko. And I can't help but see Fuyumi and Akiho's relationship as being more similar to a more comfortable version of Natsuko and Haruko's than I can to Chinatsu and Miharu's. And I don't think I'm the only one.

So until the series actually touches on it, you're entirely free to disagree with the interpretation, but Chinatsu and Miharu being definitive about it is definitely something novel.

The main difference is Fuyumi and Akiho have already all but confessed to each other
They don't think anything of swapping, or getting naked in each other's bodies, unlike Haruko and Natsuko

FWIW Akiho actually did get cold feet about following through with her teasing. One also notes the kissing bit was the only thing Fuyumi has ever expressed a smidgen of jealousy over, so it doesn't seem very far-fetched to assume the act holds real emotional gravitas to them both - quite possibly more than they realised before the matter was brought up.

Just because something elicits an emotion doesn't mean it's well written. The character acts like she is from space and only vaguely familiar with human emotion and the message this sends is reprehensible. And this won an award in 2011. Thanks for reminding me of this piece of shit, now I have to clean the palate with something.

It might have won an award simply because of the emotion it fills people with. That's no easy task

I'd also say the slow burn was handled quite well for a huge pay off

Except I'm not invested in the story or the characters since there's not a hell of a lot of depth to either. Upset at the cultural assumptions behind the story. Annoyed at the author for shrugging and going "well, it's sad but that's how things work" without really taking a stance either way. Irritated that the whole thing was so bloodless about it.

That's an emotional reaction, sure. But not the sort of thing an author should be shooting for unless they're doing clickbait.

Also, what huge pay off? That the other girl gives lip service to loving the other girl, and then just blithely walks off to marry some dude for....some reason? There's nothing presented in the story to indicate that she really means it. There's no emotional weight to it at all.

There's not much of an explanation about why the characters are separating, but they clearly hold affection for each other

The light-haired girl is particular, holds a mask of indifference the whole story
- not wearing her ring
- throwing out all her things
- refusing to get close

Once she hears the "I love you". She finally allows herself to cry

Clearly, Tsubomi had one-sided / serious feelings for Ayumu

She was blinded in love with the girl, and desperate for attention

It's easier for me to sympathize with a character who loves someone in spite of their flaws, rather than a character who can't empathize with another

From what we know: Tsubomi doesn't get any physical affection, and had to listen to stories about Sayo all the time. When she finally breaks up with Ayumu, the girl ignores her all together. It's almost like she never really cared for her to begin with

And when they do finally meet up, she can't seem to recognize why Tsubomi would be passive-aggresive
