The series picks up directly where that story left off,

There's a sequel chapter to Black Yaggy that comes before Strange Babies.

I know about Nakatani Nio, Pigeonblood, Cloud Palette and Vivit Gray. Could you recommend some more good authors?

Rosebud, Benishake, Yuuki Sakuraba, Yonu, Atoki.

Translation time can be pretty dependent on the author and the language they use—generally speaking, I find Takemiya a lot easier to translate than Kuzushiro (and LOVE/DEATH isn't nearly as bad as Inu/Neko). I find a disproportionate amount of time will be spent on a small number of tricky panels—everything might be going smoothly in Shinozaki and then Shou makes some weird cultural reference that throws me for a loop.

We largely gave up on redrawing SFX because this can potentially double the editing time, which is time that could be spent working on other manga.

We once did 12 releases during a 12 day period. Some of those were small, and I think most of the cleaning was done ahead of time, but a number of those were things we somehow powered through in a day. It was an interesting experiment, and the conclusion was: "never again."

I just wish the artist would be commissioned to do a whole new series, I love their work so much.

She's had a series running in Rakuen for a while now, but it looks pretty het.

So looking at the notes on the series page, there's still one un-translated chapter from the re-release? Or am I reading that wrong?

There's a few pages titled Married Life.

In one of the chapters posted here? Or not translated yet? You're going to have to be more specific.

Not here, and not translated yet. Five-page extra from Hakusensha's collected edition, which—for a brief period—actually had every chapter of Junsui.

(There's also a new afterword, cover images, bonus colour illustrations, etc., which I imagine will come with that chapter)

When they say Izumi Kitta, do they mean that Izumi Kitta? The seiyuu of Tomoko (Watamote)? Is she into yuri?

I was going to say "no," but it turns out the answer is "yes." Also, she really likes gyoza.

Edit: If you type in 橘田いずみ (Izumi Kitta) in Google, the first suggestion is 橘田いずみ 百合 (yuri) (followed by Izumi Kitta race queen, Izumi Kitta gyoza, and Izumi Kitta height).

(Too lazy to write a new post, so I'm just going to repeat what we said on our blog)

So it seems that a number of yuri artists, including Takemiya Jin, Amano Shuninta and Momono Moto, came together to make their own independent yuri magazine, Galette. It will be sold through a number of channels (including the Kindle store), but it’s also being funded through Enty, a Japanese site that basically functions like Patreon—i.e. different monthly payments with various rewards, including free digital and print copies of Galette. This means that you—yes, you!—can now support the publication of a new yuri magazine.

To assist you in this endeavour, we’ve translated all the relevant portions of the website. If you do decide to become a supporter, the actual payment process is in English. I don’t know how they handle international shipments for the physical goods, though (there’s a good chance they do not), so if you want to sign up for one of the higher reward tiers we may need to make enquiries.

As for the content, all we know so far is that will be gay comics, photos and other media. We have a complete list of the participating artists and details of the reward tiers below:

(Translated from Galette Enty page)

Galette – Yuri Comic Magazine – is Creating Yuri Manga

Galette is a self-published yuri comic magazine that brings together yuri from various media, including manga, illustrations, pictures, and music. The contents are gathered and published four times a year at the Kanto COMITIA convention.

“I want to draw love between girls with an emphasis on story!” “I want to regularly send out some high-class yuri!” Artists who felt this way came together and designed the yuri comic magazine Galette.

We’re gathering all of those who want to support our efforts to make this a stable quarterly publication! The proceeds from Enty will be used to cover operating costs and given to the artists.

For those who register at the Gold Level and above, every issue of Galette will be sent to your home for free.

*Unfortunately we can only mail them, and so you are unable to pick them up at the event directly. Thank you for your understanding.

For those considering registering at the Autograph Level:

*Please review the following lists first

For those who want the autograph of someone not on the “requests possible list,” we recommend getting in touch with the management prior to registering (optional). It’s possible that some artists may be unable to accept cards, etc., to be signed.

To avoid any trouble, the Galette staff will negotiate with the artists. (Please refrain from negotiating with the artists directly).

*Once negotiations are complete, you cannot change the artist whose autograph you want.

Each list can be updated at any time. *Honorifics omitted (last updated 1/12/2016)

[Requests possible list *Can draw stuff]

Asube Yui / Hamano Ringo / Yatosaki Haru / Furiko Yotsuhara / Yorita Miyuki / Amano Shuninta / Sugata Uri / Uno Jinia / Kazuka

[Negotiations possible list *Negotiations may or may not be successful]

Ootomo Megane / pen

[Expired list]

Takemiya Jin

[Requests not possible list]

Izumi Kitta / Momono Moto / Haru

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. To contact the Galette management, please use either the Enty messaging system or the contact form on our official website.

Shouldn't chapter 7 have a 'Time Skip' tag? Or is that spoiler territory?

I don't think that tag exists anymore.

I want to see a chapter about that other girl (Hiroko) getting closure. That would be nice.

If you can read Japanese, it's here: http://amzn.asia/26pBDPx
Otherwise, somebody will probably eventually translate it maybe if you're lucky.

The power of MANICURE!

Newly released chapters simply automatically go at the bottom unless moved. I took it upon myself to move it to volume 3 where it looks like it goes; if that's not right then someone can either let me know or fix it.

Far as I can tell, Rival and Kase-san isn't part of volume 3 (Shortcake to Kase-san), which starts with ch11, so it's hard to place where it goes publication wise (chronologically it takes place just before ch8).
Basically trying to figure out the actual numbering of this series is confusing.

I've been periodically updating the list of unpublished chapters (because I also find it confusing and wanted a way to keep track of what was released when), and I number it 11.5 well before volume 3 was out simply because it was published after Sun and Kase-san. Since it's not actually in any of the tanks, I just shifted it up with Christmas under "extras published between volumes 2 & 3," which seems to be the most logical place for it.

Speaking of confusing, it would probably make sense to remove the stop calling Plant Appointee "chapter 6" and then to renumber the other chapters accordingly, since it is also an uncollected extra.

Rival and Kase San was an extra iirc after Tsubomi ceased publication. It's weird like that because the series has been changed to releasing via digital instead of traditional printing.

It's actually a bit weirder—Rival was release in Hirari's last regular issue (vol. 14), but it still didn't make it into the tank. Shortcake followed in a special issue (Afterschool 2), Christmas was released when the status of the series was still up in the air, and then everything since then has been serialised releases through Web Wings.

There's no private messaging in this forums right? Hm. No harm in posting it here then.

Here ya go ma'am: boop boop email goes here
It might be at risk of being picked up by email harvesters for spamming purposes if it's copy-pasteable. I don't actually know how prolific it is or whether standard measures actually help, but I've adjusted it slightly all the same.

Generally they're tagged with this tag, although they're technically different things.

Odd; I didn't remember this being the case. The story that came to mind was Fragments of Love, which isn't.

Would you want tutors being added as a alias to the tag, or would you prefer a separate tag for it.

Neither. I think Age gap does the trick.

I'd leave it covering both, as you say it's a fairly small difference. You've still got an adult teaching a child, although it doesn't have the school trappings. Those might be make-or-break for some, but I think we've got few enough it doesn't matter too much.

I think the differences are more substantial than this. On the one hand, the age gap will tend to be smaller: 2-5 years instead ... let's say 5-10. On the hand, the power dynamics are totally different: a teacher occupies a formal position of authority, with a real ability to directly impact the future of their students and to punish them for disobedience, while earning a proper salary in a socially respectable position; a tutor, meanwhile, basically serves at the discretion of the student's family, is vulnerable to lost income and future employment if things go badly, and is probably also still a student.

Not saying the power dynamics aren't there, and there are obviously a range of cases (including some where the tutor will also be a fulltime teacher), but I don't think that grouping it all under "adult teaching a child" is the best approach.

What character of Kancolle it's Ichiban Kuji? http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/shinozaki_san_ki_wo_ota_shika_ni_ch35#16 I asked a friend fan of Kancolle and he doesn't know who she is :/ someone know the real name of her?

Not a character. It's a type of lottery where you buy tickets to see if you win character goods. Since the tickets are distributed in batches, it's possible to simply buy up a store's batch to guarantee winning whatever prize.

I think you're mistaken about japanese men. Maybe they are intimidated in "formal" interactions, but in the street or on trains, foreign women are fair game. Police wouldn't budge for a native, so even less for a foreigner.

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/community/2013/10/23/voices/japan-no-safe-country-for-foreign-women/

This is one person writing about two incidents. It sounds like they were quite personally upsetting for her, and it's not surprising that she doesn't feel safe in Japan anymore—in the same that victims of home robberies stop feeling safe in their house, victims of assault stop feeling safe out alone, etc. But it says nothing about the country as a whole.

Edit: I suppose I can elaborate. The general consensus from foreigners, both men and women, is that they feel safer in Japan than they do almost anywhere else. Crime statistics suggest that they are justified in feeling that way. Of course, that doesn't mean there is no crime, and that foreigners are not sometimes deliberately targeted, and there have been complaints about police not being helpful in some of those cases. But I have never seen any statistics to suggest that foreign women are less safe in Japan compared with other countries or compared with Japanese women.

Bullying in general is famously widespread in Japanese schools and credited for at least part of the high youth suicide rate. It's generally a big issue that's not effectively dealt with, even beyond LGBT youth.

Unless the stats have changed significantly in the past, the youth suicide rate in Japan is much lower than in USA and Canada.

Suicide is the leading cause of death for youths 10-19 in Japan.

True, but that doesn't really tell us much on its own—death by natural causes is very low for that group, which leaves homicides, suicides and accidents. It also tells us nothing about how that compares to other countries.

For example, this article argues that Japan has an unusually high rate of suicides for young people, but defines "young peple" all the way up to 35. But you can also see here that Japan has lower overall mortality rates, with the higher suicide rate being offset by a lower accident rate.

First, when I posted before I was lazy and just used some 2004 statistics from here, which is why I made a caveat about them not changing. But I was curious about what they looked like today, so I pulled that data from WHO's database for 2011 for Canada, US and Japan:
(2011, because for some reason we don't have more recent stats on Canada). And from that, I got:

http://puu.sh/oKjpS/ea78757875.png

What you can see here is that Japan's suicide rates for 10-14 year-olds are below those of Canada and the US, and is between them (but still low) for 15-19, which was my main point—comparatively, Japan does not have unusually high rates of teen suicide. What it does have are unusually low rates of death by accident (presumably because teens aren't driving), as well as a much lower homicide rate, and thanks to that suicide is left as the leading cause of death.

This is particularly remarkable given that overall, Japan has nearly double the suicide rate of the US and Canada. However, Japan's perceived suicide problem may actually be an artifact of miscounting in other countries. We know that suicides are often not reported as such, and suicide by deliberately crashing an automobile may be the biggest source of this—in fact, current research indicates that the latter might be skewing North American statistics in a very big way. Meanwhile, car ownership is incredibly low for early age brackets in Japan, and it's entirely possible that this has led to an increase in other forms of suicide, particularly by train.

(Edited for clarity)
