So I decided to place my faith in Okada Mari's recommended writer and took a gander at the new WIXOSS, and so far, I getting vibes that this is indeed following after the events of Selector and raises the question of who is behind this new system because the end of Destructed WIXOSS nearly eliminates the possibility of Ulith being the new "Mayu" since her soul was saved after the White Room collapsed, and the new system doesn't fit into Ulith's M.O of relishing in seeing the despair from hopes and dreams being crushed.

The fact that the White Room is still intact suggests that Mayu didn't create the Selector system, her hatred and loneliness was just so strong that it fundamentally changed the rules of the game; which leaves the possibility that this could either be the true nature of WIXOSS before Mayu's ascension, or an equally powerful character has taken over the White Realm and changed the rules again.

Another question is whether this new Selector system is a direct consequence of Ruuko removing the previous one or somehow her wish became corrupted down the line. Given that Riru introduces herself as the "LRIG of the Beginning", Ruuko's wish might've somehow not extend to the other imaginary LRIGs that were lost to the void back when the Selector system was being changed by Mayu.

Now hopefully the anime does explain how this new system came to be in relation to the events of Selector, if there's any relation at all. But that aside, the plot element in regards to Suzuko and Chinatsu's relationship is a lot more interesting than that in Selector, and I do hope that they'll meet eachother down the line, preferably not in a battle. And although the first Male selector we see is a several times more obnoxious carbon copy of Akira, hopefully the others will be somewhat better and won't serve a significant role in the overall scheme of things.

Quite interested to see if Lostorage can live up to Selector WIXOSS, but I guess I'll just have to place faith that Okada Mari selected (no pun intended) the right writer to carry on her story; this either has potential to be just as good as the original for me, or I could downright despise it depending on how the new writer play his cards. That being said, if this writer adds any of remaining male selectors in a way that interferes with the (yuri) relationship between Suzuko and Chinatsu, Lostorage is getting an instant 1/10 and drop from me.

So apparently the person isn't banned yet, but at least ANN actually has competent mods compared to most other sites.

Oh, ow!

Dyansty has competent mods too ^ _ ^

But really, most sites I've visited in the past have terrible mods, so ANN having some that actually does things surprises me.

Ya know what, we're all amazed as well. Maybe you should take up stamp collecting or model ship building. To quote Popeye, "I've taken all I can stands, and I can't stands no more." The constant "all anime sucks now woe is me" soapboxing is done. Seriously, almost every single post of yours in this thread, and virtually every other preview thread or thread in general, is this same soapboxng diatribe season after season after season. At this point it is not endearing anymore. It's no longer Jack Lemon in Grumpy Old Men. It's just annoying and general belligerence that derails threads. So it's done with. If all you are going to do is complain endlessly and piss on everything then save your breath or the posts will be removed. You've been told about it many times and at this point it is a detriment to the forums so it's done with.

Such savagery and fire from the ANN mods. For context, this is in response to a particular yuri-hating subhuman that got banned from TvTropes but somehow got a free pass on ANN to whine about how every season is filled with yuri shipping material and how anime sucks; well that is, until today. RIP.

Like really, this guy makes ThatAnimeSnob looks normal, at least TAS hates everything and doesn't try to spin some BS reasoning over it.

^ Stella no Mahou has aired but no one is subbing it lol, same for Girlish Number.

Also, you shouldn't need to watch the original Strike Witches, although chronologically Brave Witches takes place alongside S2 of the original apparently.

Reading the Mahouka spin-off manga that shows the story from Miyuki's POV currently, and this is probably by far the only time where I'll ever fangirl over a het pairing; just purely because it's so undeniably adorable how much Miyuki loves and adores Tatsuya.

Still waiting on that Mahouka S2 greatness, but I guess the movie will have to do in the meantime.

So I've finally found that anime that makes me really want to see more of it this season, Flip Flappers.

The chemistry between Papika and Cocona is adorable, I really love the over-the-top animation quality that complement the whimsical nature of the anime; and best of all, the first ep take place entirely on an ice-filled wonderland. There is without a doubt, this is definitely going to rank on my AoTY list later on, with the potential to out-perform both Ange Vierge and Regalia, the current contenders for crown spot.

That aside, when it comes to alternative history settings, Brave Witches is doing it so much more for me than Izetta, I mean, not to be hating on the setting of Izetta, but I think seeing that and then coming into Brave Witches gives me a much greater appreciation for it's setting because of how fun it is.

While it's unfortunate that the anime doesn't follow the adventures of the 501st Division anymore, I do believe that Brave Witches develop it's own group of endearing characters; already so far with this first ep, Hikari is shown to be a really likeable character and her interactions with her sister are adorable. Yuri-wise, I would ship them together for now until the anime truly establishes the pairings much like the original Strike Witches did.

On a side note, Stella no Mahou also looks to be really good, even though it's probably the only anime this season that I'll have to follow without subs unless some group decides to pick it up. Definitely something that I'll keep following though.

Overall round-up for Fall 2016 currently:

Izetta and Soushin Shoujo are verging on not continuing level, MahouKei is on considering, while Stella no Mahou, Brave Witches and Flip Flappers are definite keepers for me this season.

Funnily enough, that's totally what drove me away from manga to more western stuff. All the fluffy stuff got pretty boring after a while to me. Now I prefer stuff like Wentworth or Orphan Black where the yuri is a pretty big part of the series, but not all there is to it.

Well, everyone has their own preference :p

For me, I just want to see a story of 2 girls getting together and the fun times that they have together without anything to detract from it or any excessive drama elements added in. And, most western Girls Love works, particularly films, tend to have the habit of making the relationship end tragically in an attempt to make it feel like it's something transient or not meant to be.

Excessive drama elements take away the enjoyment for me, but that said, I don't mind drama if it's done on a contained level like in Girl Friends.

^ Same here actually. I just prefer seeing girls more ^ ^" and yes, that is true ^ o ^

Still, there are some cases where there is yuri even in a non all-girl cast setting, like Qualidea Code which had a pairing from start to finish and ends happily. But yeah, generally I only watch anime with all-girl casts for yuri subtext which is usually present.

@Nevri

I guess you're right about wanting to make the perfect character and how some guys or girls might prefer personally to play using a male avatar.

Wasn't the whole TERA shtick that you can play as loli? Why people would be mad about it o.o?

Tbh, it's not something exclusive to TERA, there's a loli-esque race in Granblue Fantasy for example, as well as the now closed down, Scarlet Blade (which is like, a lot more sexualized than TERA is).

Unfortunately, in some eyes of the Western community, the Elin race is seen as something made for ppl that get off child NSFW content; I mean, just search up "TERA Let's Play by TheLazyPeon" and see his reactions every time he sees an Elin NPC. On that note, don't bother with following through with those videos, it just devolves into obnoxious and incessant whining towards the end. Bear in mind, this is the same game where there is a literal talking animal race that I've no doubt certain ppl will get off on playing, but hey, wanting to play as an animal is "perfectly normal" but playing an Elin means you're into children...right...by their logic, that other race should be something that only Furries and ppl into NSFW warning Beastiality will enjoy playing.

Also, when we live in a world where it's "okay" for children between 12 - 15 to learn to dance like K-Pop idols, ie, sexually and like they're auditioning to be the next bar dancer when they grow up, somehow I don't think chasing after a game like TERA is where priorities should lie. Especially when the original outfits aren't even that bad compared to something like Scarlet Blade; I mean, there're only like some of the newer outfits that show a bit of panty shots, and that is outraging to ppl how? Like seriously, these ppl act like they've never seen a single anime before.

Similar train of thought but different topic, the entire "Kaiju Girls: Ultra Anthropomorphism Project" is also met with similar backlash from certain parts of the Ultra community, some of which are probably foaming at the mouth in rage IRL at the thought of their favorite Ultra monster being reimagined as a female drawing of all things. In truth though, the project is no different than something like KanColle where the ships from WWII are reimagined as "ship girls", heck the anime short airing this season itself states that these are just ordinary girls that inherited the powers of the Ultra Kaiju (ie, Zetton), much like how KanColle are girls with the spirits of the WWII ships except it makes so much more sense.

What's funnier is that the only Wikia where you'd think you'll find information on this since it is essentially a wikia on the Ultra franchise, is so apprehensive and incredulous over the idea of this project and tries to justify their hatred by pulling the "think about the children" card. Again, when we live in a world where there're countless of ways children can be exposed to content that seemingly promotes questionable behavior; ie, Western rap music and K-Pop, is a small project like this really that bad in the minds of these ppl? The pixiv submitted artwork isn't even as bad as they're making it out to be, just your general run-the-mill anime styled drawings with buxom designs; but for some reason, these ppl are treating it as if it's a big deal somehow.

If these ppl are like in their mid-30 -40s or something and watched the Ultra franchise as a child and/or have their own children that watche(s)/d it, then I can understand where they're coming from to some extent, I mean, I know my folks won't be particularly excited over the idea. But really, it's just an innocent little project supported by the original creators to try to promote the Ultra franchise to a wider demographic, nothing to get so up-in-arms over; some disapproval is fine, but saying that the entire project should be "killed" just because it goes against what they know is just plain silly if not downright immature.

Idk, maybe it's just I've been exposed to this medium of anime for so long, to the point where things like the Elin race in TERA or the Ultra Anthropomorphism Project just seems completely normal to me.

Leave it to me to write a long post again...that I doubt anyone except the person this is being addressed to will read...

The more I see ppl whine about female gender-locked classes in TERA, the more I think these are probably the same lackwits that got Scarlet Blade to add a male class for no apparent reason; but aw well, the latter is closed down now. I really hope the developers for TERA doesn't give a damn about these whiners and keep making female gender-locked classes.

Oh and, playing a class as a female is terrible, but playing a class as a talking animal is A-Okay, because being a Furry is perfectly normal in every society. No but really, unless someone is like 40+ ish old and feels wrong playing as a girl (though I question why would they even play TERA in this case) or dislikes the female outfits and what not, I honestly don't find any valid reason for not enjoying the gender-locked classes.

On a side note, I saw the Ghostbusters reboot and...that was actually an enjoyable movie, there wasn't a single moment where I felt like I'm not having fun; it was funny, and the plot was easy to follow. But, as expected, the IMDB board for it is like going to the Mos Eisley Spaceport.

Edit - Some relevant videos regarding the Ghostbusters Remake.

Literally all those things you mentioned are my kind of anime. :P

I'm a casual watcher of anime, I don't watch anything that requires too much thinking on my part or goes longer than the standard 12 episode format ...

I'm on the same boat with this accidentally removed post by PKMN.

I mean if you look at my top 9 anime* picture (which tbh I really doubt anyone did lol), most of the stuff on there are anime that doesn't really require much thinking to actually enjoy. And personally, I find most "deep and mature" anime to be dull at best - I don't really see the value in watching anime for exploring the darkness of the world and the human mind when I already know all of that.

I think there is more value in anime that at first glance wouldn't provide much character development but actually does deliver on that aspect, ie, Ange Vierge from last season which I consistently praised for the characterization and how every arc made it's focal character(s) relatable on a certain level; it wasn't thought-provokingly philosophical or "deep", but there is that quality in it's storyline and characterization that emotionally resonated with me which I why I enjoyed it.

Or, for an older example, Hidan no Aria AA from last year which I ranked as my crown AoTY, just because of how it developed every character and showed their relationship as friends blossoming, with a dash of a meaningful yuri relationship that had characters that really complemented eachother's personality and setbacks to a point where they basically complete eachother, and a more comical yuri love-triangle that was rather endearing and funny although faltering in a way.

Again, more shameless advertising, if anyone doesn't care about spoilers about the anime I mentioned, you can read my posts here and also here respectively ^ _ ^

* from left to right:
1st row: Overlord, Blade and Soul, Girl Friend Beta
2nd row: Gatchaman Crowds, Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku, Vividred Operation
3rd row: Hidan no Aria AA, Locodol, Mahouka

Edit: added the list/pic here on this post for Miki, and anyone else that wants to view it ^ _ ^

I got reminded by yt about pretty good video about hype (which at best only Rina will find interesting enough to watch).

You called it :D

Although, I don't really find the video to be very engaging, and the structure of the video doesn't really leads properly up to the conclusion that "hype isn't bad because there is a community behind it" given that most of the video was focused on how "hype" is causing ppl to move at a faster viewing pace per season while overlooking other successful anime.

Also the video felt really 'dull' for some reason, it lacks the "soul" compared to videos from other reviewers like Digibro or Glass Reflection (Arkada), and feels like a script than someone actually addressing an audience.

Im on the inverse side and loved Ange Vierge.

It's a nice anime, but YMMV. I personally rank it as the best anime I've seen this year currently for the story, yuri pairings and characterization.

Meanwhile, I still can't be bothered to continue Haifuri...

@Faust

I wish I could share the same sentiments lol, the setting and world introduced in the first ep didn't really pique my interest, it's more like "oh, okay" than anything. I'll probably be more interested in it if the honestly dull, imo, political/historical WWII stuff isn't the central focus, and we are introduced more into the magic aspect of the story: Izetta, her past, the "white witch" legend of Fine's country and how it all plays into the overall narrative.

Tbh if the anime maintains the WWII stuff without expanding on the magic aspect of the world then I don't think I'll continue watching this; again, it's not bad by any means, Im just not interested in it if the magic aspect doesn't play a large deciding role.

I'd personally rank it in my all-time Top 9 purely because of how fun it was to watch, especially when the main characters are both so ridiculously OP'd.
