I'm relieved the rotating maps are generally easy to clear at risk 8, so that I don't have to spend hours working out strategies. However, the main map makes me despair of ever clearing it at risk 18.

Don't worry, the second week adds new risk tags that make clearing it at risk 18 a lot easier. There's people who've cleared it all with E1 operators or with low rarity operators back when the CN server had the event.

Usually the risk 8 clears for daily maps are pretty easy, it's trying to max risk clear it that makes it more difficult. I did actually manage a risk 14 clear for this map but I'm having a hard time recreating it again to record. Pretty sure the reason I was able to clear it was due to Hoshi's resist RNG and I haven't gotten lucky enough to do it again.

EDIT: Figured it out. Turns out I just needed a Blaze and to focus on killing the mage first instead of trying to tough it out.

Why were today's risk tags so brutal... I couldn't do the max risk 14 but I did manage risk 12. Had to take off the -50% HP contingency to do it. Pretty sure my strat is somewhat unique since I used Nearl and Saria's skill 3. Here's my run if anyone wants to see.

Probably a supporter considering she's Cthulu themed and Arknights also has a Cthulu themed summoner named Deepcolor in the Supporter class.

Also speaking of Artoria, Siege shares the same VA and is basically Arknights Saber with a hammer. She's lion-themed and Victorian royalty plus her backstory has a Gawain involved. Victoria is essentially Arknights England and even her buddy Indra has a voice line that says "Doesn't she look brilliant with her hammer in one hand? I'm more curious how she'd look if she were holding a sword, though."

Cleared it at risk 14 with Nian AND Shining. Guess someone noticed that today's risks involve getting hit by a lot of physical damage and changed their roster. It also helped that I changed out Eyja and used Ifrit instead. She only hit one tile but it did a lot more damage than Eyja's skill 2.

Also I kinda thought you can farm the shop, but I realized the number of currency you can get is limited(?), so I need to be more careful what I get. I kinda wasted 120 points because of that.

I wish you could farm the shop, but CC doesn't require any sanity to play so them giving limited numbers of mats is probs cause of that.

I did the daily map and boy am I really glad I built my Magallan. Her slow with her first skill really helped me deal with those enraged lizard dudes that come from the left side of the map. I couldn't get max risk, but I did manage risk 11. I might try a few more times and see if I can figure out how to do risk 14. The increase in HP and the attack boost for those enraged throwers on the right side are really scary though. Maybe if I take a support Shining... I just need people to increase the defense of Hoshi so she doesn't get completely melted by them.

EDIT: Realized that no one has Shining on their support list haha. Well I'm gonna try using Nian's skill 3 then.

Does anyone know when or if Grani's event will get a rerun since I joined after her event was over? :(

CN is just getting the rerun announcement now so probs 6-8 months from October?

A good way to deal with the slugs is to just kill them before they get to you, aka use a bunch of ranged units. Just don't take the one risk that increases ranged unit dp cost and choose everything else. If you don't have Ifrit, you should take an Ifrit support. This is the run I did on risk 10.

Also yeah Ifrit x Silence is kinda... gross as heck. Especially cause Ifrit is basically a child and Silence is also in charge of her as a doctor so there's a lot of power imbalances there that make shipping them feel wrong. Them being mother and daughter is fine but being lovers is... hm... also there's the issue of Saria.

It took me a while to understood everything, but from what I got in order to unlock challenges for daily map, I need to unlock them reaching certain lvl with risk on normal map? It says unlock at rank 1 and 2. Now that you said it and I checked again, I'm supposed to unlock them beating the daily mission?

Basically just clear it once normally at risk 0 or with the support tag and then clear it again with the new risks unlocked. Once the risks add up to risk 8, you've cleared most of the daily challenges. There's also challenges for picking certain combinations of risk tags which you can click on the challenges tab to see.

My progress so far on CC is that I figured how to beat permanent map normally and then picked all conditions that didn't seem to matter that much and beat it with the same set up, so I currently beat risk 6.

An important thing to note is that while the permanent map is important to complete before the event is over, getting risk 18 isn't as important as doing risk 8 clears for the daily maps. Also that week 2 opens up new risks you can take so if you're having trouble with week 1, you can just wait and see if you can do it with week 2.

EDIT: NVM I switched to a different team and got risk 18 done.

Well I got Bagpipe! Don't have her E2 mats yet so I can't promote her yet but that's just a matter of time. As for CC, I thought I would be able to breeze through risk 18 but the rockbreakers are extremely scary... I could only do risk 16 for now. I think once I M3 Hoshi's 3rd skill, I might be able to do it. I stupidly did Nian's S3M3 first instead of Hoshi so now I just need to farm mats for that. I could also wait for week 2 risks but... naw. I'm going to try and M3 Hoshi first and then see if I can clear it like that.

It feels like if you want to survive the rockbreaker risk, you severely need to invest in Hoshi or you're fucked. Her arts/physical damage resist talent lets her dodge the damage altogether. The only other defender that does that is Croissant, but I don't have her built so I have no clue if she's any good in this situation. I've mostly seen people use Hoshi to do their high risk clears.

Arknights is a game where it gets better the longer you play imo. You need to have a good understanding of your team's skills and roles before you can play stages comfortably. It took me a few weeks to get the hang of it, and the early chapters really doesn't show the full potential of the gameplay.

It's when they start introducing more enemy types, map types, etc that the gameplay gets interesting. You also have to get your operators to elite 1 before they can start showing their special skills. Every operator's first skill are generally very basic buffs and you need to get them to elite 1 before their specialized skill is shown. Like Siege's skill 1 is a basic dp generating skill while skill 2 is her smashing the ground with her hammer in a somersault, dealing AoE damage + generating some DP on skill activation.

Fixed squad missions are tutorials so they'll be there every time the game introduces a new mechanic. Pretty sure there was some in chapter 6 too.

Most Arknights fics on AO3 are in Chinese so I tend to not bother with them. There's one Texas x Lappland fic I really like though.

11:52: an extremely heart-wrenching tragedy fic. Also the fic that made me a fervent Texland shipper.

There's also Hellagur x Patriot, though I don't know if you'd call that popular? Silverash x Matterhorn and Silverash x Courier are fairly popular too I think. There's also the furry ship, Aak x Hung.

99.9% sure they're fr together because of certain things, but they won't officially say they're together since ship teasing is okay while actually confirming their relationship isn't. Management wise anyways.

There's also the fact that they've had an argument where Kana got really sad when Tomoe suggested they keep their relationship professional so I really doubt they're faking it. The stuff they mention is way too elaborate. If they're actually just acting, they seriously deserve an Oscar.

And she has a crush on Provence right now! If you're reading operator files, you should check out these specific ones cause there's a lot of ships that come from the operator files + voice lines. The most important voice lines to check are their trust lines.

Of course you can. As I said. But is that the kind of advice you'd give a new player who has only one guard character? The point was: that's enough. You don't need any more.

Except I... already gave advice in my original post. I just think that saying "guards are unnecessary" isn't good advice when the chance of getting higher rarity operators in this game is actually quite high compared to other gacha games. I think that telling a new player that you don't need guards without letting them know that there are actually really good operators in that category gives them a false view of what to expect in late game content.

The point I'm trying to make is that guards are really good and should be invested in if/when you get them since they can make the game content much easier.

Once you have your 5/6 star guards leveled, you can pretty much have a team full of guards and clear most of the content. Examples of OP guards being Silverash, Hellagur, Blaze, Lappland, Specter, etc etc.

Yes, nice. But you still don't need them for the normal content. Try playing through normal content without vanguards or guards or healers or whatever else the situation requires - possible sometimes, but not orthodox strategy. Meanwhile, guards aren't necessary. That's not saying they can't be great. It's just saying they aren't necessary. Because, as I said, they aren't necessary.

Except that you... can. You can literally use just guards and clear story content without vanguards or medics or whatever else. Guards have high stats and can fill in roles of other classes just fine. Ranged guards can act as snipers, arts guards can act as casters, and then there's AOE guards that can act as defenders with their block count. The reason guards are so good is their versatility in the roles they can take on. Of course, if you're having trouble with anything, there's nothing preventing you from adding more operators to take since you can take 12 with you.

This is of course, only if you have the guards in question, if you don't then the standard comp is best. I've replayed through a lot of the maps using as few operators as possible to trust farm, and more often than not, using those high rarity guards let me clear with 2-4 ops max and then I can fill the rest with people I need to farm trust for.

I think it's less guards in general and more duelist guards (ie the ones that have high HP, high attack and block 1 enemy) that are considered a bit meh as far as late-game, hard content is concerned. It doesn't help that there are DP-on-kill vanguards can often do their job as assassins just as well. That said, it's not like they're terrible or useless or anything, just not as "meta"; they're still definitely useable in most levels.

Right now I have three defenders at level 20 (Beagle, Cuora, and Noir Corne); two snipers (Jessica Lv 30 and Kroos Lv 20); two vanguards at level 20 (Siege and Yato); two medics at level 20 (Perfumer and Hibiscus); one Guard (Melantha), one Caster (Amiya); and one supporter (Earthspirit) on my team. I also have Scavenger, Zima, and Fang at level 20. No more guards in my roster currently however. :(

It's fine if you don't have more guards currently. The last two slots are very flexible so don't worry about it. You also shouldn't worry about having 2 casters currently since they're only really useful against high defense enemies. Btw you... shouldn't use Yato as your vanguard since she doesn't generate any DP.

The comp you should run: Siege + Zima (or Fang) for vanguards, Jessica + Kroos for snipers, Cuora + Beagle for defenders, Perfumer + Ansel (you should level him) for medics, then the rest can be filled with Amiya, Melantha, Orchid (level her instead of Earthspirit) and then anything else you have.

Guards are pretty whatever for the normal content. There's probably no situation where you absolutely need to have one (vanguards can do as well usually), and if not, then Melantha is perfectly sufficient.
