He was really slow at reading the situation, I'll give you that, and misunderstood her getting flustered as meaning she didn't understanding what he was asking. Which was the reason he got a bit too frank about it. But as soon as he realized he was making her uncomfortable, he immediately cut if off and changed the subject.

Although you've got things like the history of Kabuki showing that the open acceptance of sexuality in general, be it gay or straight, was on a bit of a rocky path even before the opening of Japan.

Also, the Genji also openly depicts pedophilia, incest, and rape, among other things, and none of them in a particularly negative light, which is important to keep in mind when discussing it as being pro-homosexuality.

I don't know, according to Wikiquote even japanese says that "stake" is incorrect.

My point was simply that it's kind of pointless to get that pedantic over the English for Japanese proverb that has no accepted English language equivalent, only various and differing translations of the Japanese version.

Again, my sole issue with this series is that it is sold as yuri. I wouldn't care if it was just sold as cute girls, like most those other series are. So mostly I'm just mad at it for being promised, by both the publisher and the book stores, something different than the actual product.

I also found it pretty boring and just uninteresting in general, but that's more a matter of taste.

Given that she's not going to drop out of school, and the story has just passed the 10 month mark after 3 volumes (the one year mark should be passed around midway through volume 4)...

Without some major time leaps you'll be waiting until volume 16 for that. In about 10 years or so.

That's actually the issue just before the anime announcement, as I recall. So it had little to do with the anime and more to do with that magazine issue coming out in late summer.

This is still on the tame side. It goes full-on overt lesbianism a few times later on.

Really, if not for Bocchi, Nako would probably have no friends, herself.

While at the same time, Nako is extremely good at reading situations and knowing how to handle Bocchi. They'd both be much worse off if they hadn't just happened to be seated together!

That's Bocchi responding to Nako not wanting to do anything. Saying that's the attitude of a worthless person more than calling Nako herself one, really.

I mean the actual reason is that Nako means so much to her that Bocchi can't come up with a simple way to explain their relationship.

I just find it really odd how heavily this series is marketed as a yuri manga in Japan for how little yuri content it actually has.

And that's pretty much the only case I'd ever even consider "not yuri enough" as a criticism, myself: when it is pushed by the publisher as being yuri-heavy.

My actual impression of the manga itself is mostly unrelated to that, though I can't really say it is 100% uncolored by the fact that I thought I was buying something different than what I got.

It IS sold as a yuri manga, but honestly, there's barely even any subtext in it, and never any sign of anything the slightest bit overt.

You'll probably like hearing that he did a full volume, and not just a one-shot, then.

But still, either way, it shows they are pushing it as hard as, and it has comparable popularity to, a series that IS getting animated. So there's still a good chance for mitsuboshi colors to eventually get one.

I seem to have misread the announcement. There was a large ad put up by dengeki comics at the station near Anime Japan for a number of their comics saying they're looking for offers for anime projects for them. Since lots of people in the industry were going to Anime Japan.

Mitsubochi Colors was on the list with Gabriel Dropout. The source of my confusion, since I didn't stop to read it carefully, was kono bijutsubu ni mondai ga aru being in the group, which actually does have an anime starting in July. I must have confused the July text as applying to all of them.

I can't be sure how serious the sign was; if it's just meant to be a funny ad or if you can imply they really are pushing for anime adaptations of those.

So many new name VA(new to me, at least), which is not really what I expected but is a good thing because I love new things.

Now I just hope they don't mess thing up by changing too much from original.

Hikasa Youko, Kitamura Eri and Kayano Ai are all well established at least, but you are right there are many new ones as well which is nice.

Yamaguchi Megumi (Hifumi) has done more live action stuff. She had a lot of child parts in dramas and movies during the 2000s.

It seems that Katsuwo's other work, Mitsuboshi Colors, is getting animated this summer. If it does well, a Hitori Bocchi anime may actually be a possibility.

I bet that's something no one ever expected to hear.
