I love these characters but I miss the company TwT

There will be more company in the next set of spinoff chapters.

Considering how most of anime go for drama in the last episode, at first, I thought they will end with the Aoba x Kou break up one. But apparently with all of these filler/stretched materials it gonna be the party ending.

I've said since before the first episode aired that, based on comments by the director, they're aiming to end with the end of volume 2.

Fun fact: the author originally wanted to do the prequel series about Kou, but decided that Kou's past was far too dark and serious and didn't fit the tone of the series at all.

So it could have been even more plot and drama heavy.

The most recent story arc ending with Aoba completely breaking down and wailing on Nene's shoulder nonwithstanding...

This is basically the last of the introduction and set-up chapters. It's pretty much all plot after this.

Reminds me of that one (and really one of the only good ones) chapter of Danna ga nani itteru ka wakaranai ken.

To me, that just seems like typical idol fan and lonely person with no other friends stuff more than anything else, really.

The manager does start to vaguely give of some vibes similar to the locodol manager in last month's chapter, though. But it's still really only vaguely.

Is it actually yuri? I like the story but I'm still curious cause it's not tagged as such :0

that particular author draws alot of yuri, so it should be.

Whatever their other works may be, this particular one doesn't really ever get any yuri elements. Or even really any particularly subtext ones. Just extreme fangirling.

I'm sure someone will find some way to read some into it, though.

The "otaku" in the title (and the title in general) is really referring to the characters as seen by people from the outside (ie, the rest of the class). Otonashi is an otaku in that she's the socially awkward girl in the class with no friends. Who would probably be assumed to have otaku hobbies, though none are really explicitly shown in the story.

There is a single male character introduced in the afterword of the spinoff. A male counterpart to Hazuki, and in charge of a different production team within the company. Looking and acting overtly homosexual, he apparently takes all the good-looking male recruits as quickly as Hazuki snatches up all the cute female ones.

I almost want to see a BL spinoff about the other team.

The latest chapter had Nene being one of two new hires (Nene being part time). Umiko, being a smart cookie, has Aoba sit in on the interview to see if Nene can keep her cool and stay serious.

People that work in anime, meanwhile, tend to not enjoy shows about making anime, because personal experience with all the downfalls involved makes it really stressful for them.

The series was always gigantically popular.

I mean, its initial claim to fame was ganbaruzoi becoming a meme used all over the internet. By volume 2 it was so well-known there were billboards in Akihabara advertising its release.

The ganbaruzoi meme was apparently so prevalent it even spread to 4chan.

And then Crunchyroll had to translate it to... that.

Isn't there a page missing where Nene says 'and when we're out of school, and you're a game designer, I'll come to you and we'll make sweet, sweet love all day," ?

I suppose if so the page where Aoba says "i'll even share my work harem with you!" is also not there? dang.

Well, ixlone is uploading it to batoto (and the doki reader) as volume 5, chapters 1 through 13. Since that's basically how they're labelled in the book. Another option discussed was labeling the chapters 0.01 through 0.13. Although I don't know how far decimal numbers are supported, as you usually never see decimal number chapters outside of .5.

Either of those could possibly screw with the chapter ordering, though, depending on how it's handled. The final chapter of volume 4 is 51, so 51.01 through 51.13 is another option, but that would also look odd. And out of place until volume 4 is finished. Then again, so does the "volume 5" part.

To be fair, they were likely more concerned with physical (and ebook) sales when making the decision and not even thinking about the people posting them to free online readers.

Especially for a 4koma series, where chapter numbers are basically entirely irrelevant, the vast majority of them never even having a single officially published chapter number.

I saw one Kou/Rin doujin set for release at the upcoming comiket.

So I guess you didn't see the ones in Nyantype, either.

I think there was a sabbatical in one of the recent issues so it'll actually likely be a month or so longer! December or January!

But as I said in the New Game thread, the series is still going strong and Tomekichi was actually put in charge of one of the manga reports for the New Game anime production (they run in the same magazine). This was posted to twitter in celebration.

The manga series is apparently ending next month.

There was also a bonus manga report about the New Game anime production done by Tomekichi (Swap⇔Swap), leading to this.

This month's manga chapter introduced the anime-original character, Mozuku.

Also remember, the specific legal definition of rape can vary by country. I know there are some particular differences between Japanese law and American law on it, so it's not solely a cultural difference.

Oh, right, it's volume 2 where they casually mention that Mikoto was very sickly and never came to school, until one day she suddenly started coming every day. Around the same time she appeared in front of Sayuri.

It's really skimmed over, thrown in as an aside, but is pretty clearly important foreshadowing.
