It’s pretty interesting how I clicked the “Insane Amounts of title” tag and noticed that many yuri titles under it often involve themes of dubious consent or unique, unusual concepts. For example
- A Yuri Story About a Girl Who Insists "It's Impossible for Two Girls to Get Together" Completely Falling Within 100 Days
- How I Lose Bets With My Sadistic Gifted Childhood Friend and She Steals All of My Firsts
- A Yuri Story About How My Classmate Whose Only Good Trait Is Her Excessively Pretty Face Comes at Me Relentlessly
A Story About Buying a Classmate Once a Week ~ 5,000 Yen for an Excuse to Spend Time Together, has a distinct and unusual concepts, but I wouldn’t categorize it under dubious consent. Even without reading the light novel, I get the sense the story won't take the path of Dubious consent. ( haha... just a little observation of mine ;D)
(What I mean by "unusual" is that it has a unique feel but you can still compare and relate it to similar works. For example, I’d consider Black Lagoon unusual and unique, yet I can relate it to Jormungand due to their similar vibe, especially in depicting the underground business world.)

Agreed. As teenagers, it’s common for us to overthink situations and make them seem like a bigger deal than they are, or rely on the other person to resolve an argument. But it does make for a good chapter development, and portrays the characters as their age group quite well, so I'm not complaining. :)

^^^ I think it’s just the artist’s style, but I agree, they do draw the characters quite thin.

edit: just to clarify before y'all think i'm racist, after reading the previous comments, i must clarify with darkness i meant drama or heavily traumatised characters/disfunctional relationships, toxic friendship, etc

I get the feeling that, while the series might start light with introductions and character development, it could take a deeper turn. That said, I don’t see it becoming extremely dark, more like exploring the surface of characters’ emotions and past experiences. There may also be some conflicts with new characters, judging by the cover. Overall, I think Sal is aiming for a wholesome, comedic series with an intriguing concept that appeals to younger audiences, especially with the influencer and social media themes, and the focus on fashion. But I'm not really sure I just wanna see how this goes before I make any big assumptions. :)

While reading, I noticed the authors name felt familiar, and then I realised, it’s Tamasaki Tama, the same author behind A Love Letter for the Marching Puppy. Nice~ ;D
Also I'd like to add this series has great potential, and I could see it being adapted into an anime similar to 'The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady' and 'I Favor the Villainess'. these share a similar vibe and were successful enough to receive anime adaptations. not to mention Isekai yuris are pretty popular nowadays.
