Mc has lived a life of counting her pennies. While Nakano is suggesting too frivelous a spree it is actually healthy for Mc to experience spending money normally.

I don't think jumping straight from "worrying about how much public tap water she uses" to "lol just buy whatever" is the way to teach Miyako proper money management. There are in fact stages between those two. Also Nakano is definitely doing this to make Miyako financially dependent on the sex work.

Except she’s not necessarily telling her to spend frivolously. Notice how she pointed out how much everything Miyako was considering would be, and she even bought relatively cheap options at the restaurant to demonstrate that Miyako could still enjoy herself without having to go all out. I do kinda think Nakano’s whole goal here was simply to get Miyako to loosen up a bit and enjoy herself.

Also, it occurs to me that Nakano doesn’t actually get much from this weird prostitution thing. So far, we haven’t seen any indication that she’s taking a finder’s fee or a cut of Miyako’s earnings. So if her goal is to pimp out her friend, she’s doing a terrible job at the actual pimping part. Even if she wants to make Miyako financially dependent (which would be hard to do, as she already knows how to live with very little), as things currently stand, she’d have very little to gain from it. I don’t know, maybe she’s playing the long game, or maybe the reporter will reveal some bombshell twist, but for now, I find it hard to see her actions as anything other than a honest, if somewhat twisted, attempt to help out her financially struggling and tight-fisted friend.

Wait no one is questioning the fact the company only had one brand new plate, or that the one plate costs the rough equivalent of 10,000 dollars? Who buys a freaken 10G plate and just lends it to the company staff to use? Lol

I’m pretty sure that it’s supposed to be an ornamental plate (possibly an antique at that price), that she knocked over. It’s a bit of a stretch to assume that it’s actual dishware, especially since she was in what looks like a conference room.

Apparently, a boss who then can use the fact that it's broken to pressure a clueless employee into dating her. :-) My standard reality check: "Imagine if the boss were a guy, how would I feel about this development?" In this case, very uncomfortable.

To be fair, I don’t think switching the genders would change my feelings on the situation. The whole scenario was set up in a pretty lighthearted way, and the boss didn’t really seem intent on actually pressuring her into a relationship (it didn’t even seem like she was expecting her to say yes. It it ethically dubious? Yeah, probably, but it’s not really ringing any moral alarms for me. Imagining the boss as a guy really doesn’t change that for me, either.

Might be seeing this wrong, but are Koga's fingertips bandaged up? Maybe like a trying to sow an apology gift or something?

I don’t think it’s ever been stated that she even knows how to sew. As someone further back in the discussion said, they’re probably there because she’s been practicing with her new guitar, which can really slice up your fingers.

Welp, that’s disappointing, but not unexpected. Alright, Jeff, it’s up to you!

Everyone keeps talking about the kiss at the end there, and while, yes, that is beyond icky and creepy, are we just going to ignore all the other shit Ren did this chapter? Like, first we’ve got that whole “make amends” shit that sounds like it came right out of a porn opening. Then you have him going “Oh, she doesn’t want to join the student council? Well then I’ll FORCE her to join the student council,” and (ab)using the powers of his position to make that happen. And let’s not forget the fact that, as he is holding Yoh down, he feels the need to bring up (well, imply, but the same principle applies) that he’s a sadist.

I think most people are able to look past a lot of the scummy behavior because it can be forgiven to an extent. Hell, even the “make amends” shit. What people have a much harder time forgiving is him forcing himself on her, especially after she made it very clear she didn’t want it, and that’s why that’s what they are focusing on.

Right—if a serial killer shoplifts a murder weapon, exceeds the speed limit on the way to the victim’s house, and runs over a puppy while parking before proceeding to decapitate the victim, most people are going to say, “Eww—serial killer!”

I mean, fair, I’m just saying that there’s a cumulative effect, here, even if the main issue is his molestation. Like, even if the serial killer primary wrongdoing is killing people, doesn’t mean the theft and puppy murder shouldn’t also be considered in evaluating his case.

I’m not trying to justify Yoh’s whole nighttime molestation thing, but I think it’s safe to say that this dude is well-beyond being an absolute creep. He’s just, blegh. I’m think that I’m going to put this one aside for awhile. At least until it gets closer to the ending.

Couples confirmed and I find it weird she is so defensive over being touched. Like not wanting to be touched is fair but this is an extreme level.

She probably has some sort of trauma associated with touch, it's an unfortunately common thing. It could be something unrelated to trauma, too, but none of the Shions really strike me as well-adjusted and untroubled individuals.

You know, that would actually fit the Shio being Lord theory... :D

I actually like the theory that Shio was one of Lord’s victims. It makes sense to me that someone subjected to Lord’s brand of “punishment” might develop a complex about being touched. It could also explain the half-mask and the fact that she seems determined to mentally break Enormeeta rather than just wiping them out, which she has already had multiple opportunities to do.

But why is she also a loli? She can't be a love target like that, ,,,,,,,unless? Lots of questions

Well, the thousand year old loli has been trope for a long time, so…

??? She's just unemployed? There's plenty of legitimate reasons someone might be unemployed. This is pretty excessively harsh on a girl we still know very little about.

She seems to have been unemployed for multiple years, though, and I think the more telling thing is that she was seemingly ungrateful and didn't bother doing chores even when living at Ruriko's place for free. Then she meets Ruriko again and literally the first thing she does is ask to freeload some more, even though Ruriko is now married. That is... not a good look, to be frank.

Yeah, honestly, I was less put off by her being jobless (although the unironic use of “funemployed” gave me pause), and more bothered by how completely indifferent she seems about the feelings of the people around her. I mean, yes, she was invited to sit with them, but as soon as she was she literally pushed Ruriko out of the way, insisted a Ruriko buy her stuff, and then asked the two of them to take her in. Then you have her complaining about how Ruriko would get mad at her for not doing something as basic as picking up after herself, seemingly unaware as to what she did wrong. She just came off as very self-centered, and it put me off.

That, and I just don’t like her character design. Maybe it’s the droopy eyes? I don’t know, it just doesn’t jive with me.

Cause as per usual, their relation is developping off-screen and so i can't care much about them

I’m holding out hope that this’ll be successful enough for us to get a spin-off about their relationship.

I think you better off writing your fanfiction.

True but let me dream, damnit!

What makes you so sure they're spare panties?

I sort of got the impression she keeps a backup for her in case her exhibitionism goes too far and she needed an emergency pair.

I mean, considering some of Baiser’s antics, it honestly surprises me that more of them don’t carry spare panties on them.

Not sure if the scanlators even read this, but on this page on the next-to-last panel it should say "REHM! SIC 'EM!" Very easy mistake to make since it's not a common word.

We'll end up hating the fortune teller, won't we?

Barbara seems to have a similar role as a drill sergeant. Yes, you resent and hate them in the moment, but the lessons you take away from the hardship might end up being worth it when your life (or in this case, magic) is on the line.

Mind you, I think even most drill sergeants wouldn't be down with actually killing a recruit in the hopes that the other recruits will be competent enough to bring them back to life. That's a tiny bit edgy in my book, maybe I'm just a fuddy-duddy.

In fairness, when she told those two to “raise the hurdles,” I don’t think she meant “drown them.”

Toxic. The parents got what they deserved, too. How old were the lasses in this story?

Got what they deserved. For what, being clueless? I wouldn’t exactly call them parent of the year material, but it’s a bit harsh to just get cut out of their kid’s life for that alone.

Mafuyu and Ena’s parents have caused a lot of problems for them in the series— Mafuyu’s mom and Ena’s dad in particular. There’s a lot that goes on so it’s hard to explain briefly to those who haven’t read their in-game stories.

Ah. That makes sense, thanks. I’m not familiar with the actual game, so I just had the doujin to base my opinion on.

Cold ears from running??

I....I don't get it....

The heat escapes from the ears, hands and feet, those part get really cold with the wind

Hmmm...never experienced that....mostly, I was doing the yoga pose "fat guy wheezing and dying"

I'm gonna take for granted you don't live in a region with freezing wind, and that you're not being contrary. Your ears stick out like radiators...too effective radiators. Further, blood flows less effectively thru cartilage.

Central europe.

We didn't had always sports outside, just in summer or when it's dry, kinda.

But I do cycle in winter, but my ears are always under something. I:m kinda vulnerable to cold weather.

Next time you go cycling in the winter (or heck, anytime where there’s a cold wind) keep your ears out. They turn into icicles surprisingly quick.

I came to check out the comments section for the first time, and wow despite this being so popular (#1 on the "Most Popular of Past 7 Days" list at time of posting) there's so much hating going on in this comment section. I for the record enjoy it and will continue to enjoy it. Don't let other people decide for you whether you should like or dislike something. Everyone to their own.

Also, morals are personal, they don't apply to everyone and your personal morals are your own. It's completely fine to say "I won't read this because I believe X" and stop reading it, but you should never say "People shouldn't read this because X is wrong". That's not okay to say.

I don’t know about other people, but I personally tend to click on the story in order to get to the comments, rather than using the forums. I can’t be certain, but I’d be willing to wager that’s why the more controversial and heavily-discussed comics tend to show up in the most popular section more often. So, in a way, it’s as much a measure of engagement as it is a matter of quality.

At first I was going question the claim that archery is uncultured. Then the last page came along...

No kidding. I’ve always thought of archery in manga as being associated with traditional Japanese culture, much more than modern ball sports, etc. So that insult seemed pretty weird.

Would kendo maybe be considered more cultured?

I’m guessing Mao was just looking for another way to insult Arashi. Either that, or maybe it’s just not considered a “girl’s” sport.

So Mao likes Yuki, Yuki just realised she likes Arashi and Arashi is like “yaaay friends”. Wonderful triangle, still could go poly tho.

For once, I kinda doubt it could. Mao is just way too possessive of Yuki. Unless she somehow developed feelings for Arashi as well, it’d never work. Not to mention that last page implies that Yuki might also be a bit of the jealous type.

So Maron-san just ignored Makino’s obvious stalking? I thought she’d call her out on that, not only about speaking to a client.
Well… Makino is in danger now tho, I am aftaid this Rina will find out about the school and end up seeing Satou there

I’m probably wrong, but I’m convinced that Maron realizes full well that Makino stalked her, but is just choosing to ignore it because she cares about Makino and doesn’t see her as a bad/dangerous person.

That, or she’s really bad at connecting the dots.

It's clear this is not a manga for you since you're reacting this viscerally to the new chapter's plot hook, I think it'd be better for you and the rest of us if you simply dropped the series and went on to something else.

Nah I am good.

It certainly does not seem that way.

Well you know what they say about assuming.

Buddy, for whatever hurt you, I’m sorry, but you’ve already made your point several times. Now, could you give it a rest and stop bringing down the whole discussion?

^ You thinking of putting a spoiler tag over that last part there?

^^ Spoilers aside, I do highly recommend it. It’s a solid show, and things start to get really crazy (in a good way) in the later seasons.

Just got a bit of confusion: the girl with the cut hair, is she “transgender” or “tomboy” because she identifies herself as “Boku” which in Japanese means “I” for males. Anyone noticed that, too?

It’s kinda nice to know the boundary or threshold between those two tags. I mean, “Kase-san and Yamada” manga has a tomboy character, but she hasn’t identified herself as a guy. If it’s just a small thing as being socially identified as whatever they pick rather than going through the arduous phenotype changes, I’d like to know.

I’m pretty sure she’s not transgender. She was using male terminology in the hopes that her friend would see her as more masculine (and thus attractive), but there’s no indication that she actually thinks of herself as a man. Pretty sure it’s just an attempt at seduction.
