I think Kagami is more the one with the problem than Indou.

Indou is experiencing something for the first time and is trying to work out how to handle it.

Kagami, on the other hand, seems to have a genuine issue that is not yet addressed. She obviously likes Indou as she has said as much, so perhaps it is due to her rank or something else. And nah, I've not read the spoilers, so don't direct me to them. I like to be surprised! :)

The old style was quite unique and bold / expressive, in an exaggerated/simple way that highlighted expressions etc I feel. Though on the surface at first glance you could just say it was 'bad' or childish, like say Karaagetarou's Touhou stuff - but I think that would be a mistake.

The new style while similar, is cleaner but has less expression or life - partly because it is obviously drawn in an art package now, not by hand - and you can tell. The more realistic style waters down the strengths to me - and is just more generic.

I think you really hit the nail on the head for how I feel about this. One of the many reasons I became a Mochi au Lait fan was because of the art. It felt fresh, unique, and very different, along side some great little stories.

To each their own, however. I won't begrudge anyone who enjoys the new style. I'll just mourn the loss in my corner.

I always feel a bit uneasy about the perceived perfection that some characters have for others, as though they can do no wrong in their eyes. It won't be until this authoress is shown to have a vast imperfection that I will be able to settle down and maybe enjoy this. Unless/until that happens, I'm keeping watch with one discerning eye.

I much much preferred the flat annoyed look of the previous version from the rental woman. These new eyes are weird as all heck to me.

All that aside, this was cute. I also do not like super obedient girlfriends. It warms my heart when manga show strong female characters as opposed to the wishy washy types who can't make decisions.
