Actually if we look at Neeko's problems, work at home is perfect for her.

Especially if its all computer related work. I now several people who are basically freelance IT fixing computers and helping people with computer projects. Its not the best paying job at first though.

Theres plenty of Subtext, its just very very unlikely to go past that. I wouldn't be surprised though if Shino turned out to be gay. If I had to pick a likely a non-Nozumi girl I would go with the volleyball manager.

Well. That part-time guy wouldn't get so much screen time if he weren't there for a reason. Chekov's male character, basically. So, clearly, while we're being baited with "ha ha, it's like you are girlfriends" there'll develop a contrived love triangle with that guy in the middle over the next twenty chapters, before the series will abruptly end with an inconclusive, satisfies-nobody-end and possibly a vague promise for a sequel that'll never happen.

And I'm totally not just saying this because this is my 666th post and it felt appropriately evil to say.

Well if you look at other manga their one shots are usually completely different from the series, look at Deku from My Hero who was an older looking gadget user. Luffy from the One Piece one shot was a lot smarter and there was this whole thing about Pirates who only robbed other pirates. So there is some hope for a different ending, though I guess it does not gurantee it to be any happier.
