Y'know, it's always kind of odd how so many mangaka tries to do these pose while avoiding to draw panties and, as a result, only manages to make it looks like the girl is walking around pantyless, making the pic lewder in their attempt at not being too lewd XD

Am I the only one who never understood that pose? Like, when I wear skirts I'm super conscious of how I'm sitting, even when I'm alone.
I know it's made for the fanservice, but is it actually a thing? I saw it more often in Idol anime than others tho.

A good deal of its use seems to be simply the artist wanting to have an impossibly short skirt without the panty shots it should normally entail. There's usually not the lewd front-and-center emphasis seen in this picture when the intent's wholesome, though.
