Even some full-blown porns still have a hella lot better plot than this.
Not bad of an ending though.

I... I really wanted to like this. I think it had potential, but this was just stupid. Excuse me while I go back to my wholesome KanColle futanari yuri.

I know it probably feels bad to be abandoned like that, but just imagine what it feels like to be the childhood friend right now. A new chapter comes up and it's the conclusion, there's not a single mention of her, and it's been months so everyone's forgotten she exists.

Getting axed sucks, I could see them building up to this conclusion, but it's just a hot mess now.

this had potential with the good art

AW, the ending was so cute!! Even though I was hoping that this series would’ve been longer, I enjoyed it and am satisfied with the ending

Lol some of these comments are amusing. Ima just sprinkle some of my controversial opinions: Me, myself and I personally believe that there is no predator nor victim here. I’m sure all of you are strictly law abiding citizens who would never think about committing crimes, even the most petty ones. But if you can manage to look past rigid (and arbitrary) laws, I think their relationship was consensual. The younger girl wasn’t raped nor coerced. Sure, she was seduced, but she also consented to everything that happened afterwards without any form of resistance. Since she has fully functioning mental faculties as well as reproductive capabilities, I believe her consent is valid :)

She didn't had knowledge... That's why she did it and that's what the other meant by "pure and innocent", just remember, you're free to do whatever you want, yourself.Your liberty ends where mine begins, do not take advantage of someone's naivety or innocence.

Or maybe I should go hunting for some school girls in some remote town, it's the perfect crime if I escape later, and who knows maybe she will like it so that makes it okay, and if she doesn't, well not my problem I'm out of town already.

Yanno I've noticed a trend with your comments. >.> Please tell me you're not actually a pedophile who has a dodgy understanding of consent.

Y'know, given the tone and content of the other chapters, I maybe should've expected it, but ending your sentimental romance/coming-of-age story by literally saying "statutory rape can be good, actually" is pretty gutsy. Like, lmao, it's not even trying to hide how messed up it was that Natsume took advantage of a naive teenager just because she was bored and horny, it just pretends like it's all okay as long as Maki can look back on it later and tell herself that it's a good memory, even though it's screwed up her ability to connect with people romantically. I dunno, it's not like I haven't read manga with big, morally dubious age gaps before, but there's something that feels particularly shameless about this one. Maybe it's the weirdly sentimental atmosphere? I'm not sure.

@Gale^
Yeah, it's one thing to acknowledge that "legal ages" don't always match up with human experience (like with drinking ages--I've known people who could have a glass of wine with dinner at 14 and never have a problem, and others who were never mature enough to be responsible drinkers), but this one keeps sending out a "this is not OK, but that's OK" vibe that seems creepier than straight-up hentai.

Sometimes i can tell from which character perspective the artist is creating from(meaning they share their personal views or if they're a top or bottom).
This one is clearly from the older side and in a very creepy way.

Personally, I read this as the complete opposite: That the author had once been the Maki to an older woman's Natsume, and even after growing up doesn't view the experience negatively. What that says about her, I can't say.

And for the record, I've actually seen news articles on the Internet about people who had been in sexual relationships as minors with adults, grew up to become adults themselves, and amazingly still view that relationship positively enough to protest the incarceration of the adults in question if they had been arrested over the act.

Talking glowingly to a crowd about sexually abusing a minor at your book party? Doesn't get more epic than that. Is this going for black comedy of some sort?

Do note she didn't say anything about the sexual side of her interactions with Maki. For all the audience knows, the two just had a purely platonic friendship.

Hrm. I think I referred to this as harmless schlock a couple chapters back, but this last chapter definitely doesn't feel harmless. When you gently kick a straggling puppy to make it run across the road, the end justifies the means. When you take away a child's innocence to "have her grow into an adult" (?????) it doesn't really work that way, huh.

Look at how adult she is, though, smoking that cigarette.

The author didn't really know how to write that relationship. I think it was supposed to be a story about a coming of age, adulthood and all that jazz, but it came across as lame.

imo it's just (vaguely) edgy porn disguised as some sort of story. I doubt this was ever going to be anything else. Whether it was consciously or "just happened" I don't know, but it's how I see it.

Ok, so I usually dig the age-gap titles that get posted here, but this was literally the storytelling of a crime. Even if I might be biased with my usual preference of wholesome stories (even more if the age-gap is included) I just can't see a way on this not being a adult taking advantage over a kid's lack of knowledge.

Did they just randomly jump into the future by about 10 years? I didn't even realise it was the same manga. The timeskip came out of nowhere.

That was the point. This is not some happy fluffy love story.

Or someone who had been seduced in their early adolescence by a pedophile/ephebephile (depends on how young we're talking; the terminology distinction is important for many people, even though whether a distinction exists is often the subject of heated arguments) and, most importantly, does not feel they were victimized at all in the process (whether you agree with them is technically irrelevant).

"Consent" is constantly getting redefined, what it means today is quite a bit different to what it meant 50 years ago and entirely unrecognizable to what it meant through most of human history. Yes consent is important, but I think it's important to not forget how rapidly things have changed and how poorly defined such things are. Thinking consent is a fixed and well defined and understandable thing I think is a sign of not having much life experience. What the term means differs vastly between cultures even in modern day world. It even differs between western countries, though to a lesser extent. Your own parents and grandparents probably define consent differently than you as well.

Well, she says she felt "sullied". That's not enough for a feeling of being a victim?

Kaoru is/was a shitty adult that gave in to her lust and wasn't really in love with Jinno.

It does seem the consequences were that Jinno has troubles maintaining lasting relationships, as she reproduces the lack of commitment that Kaoru showed with the women she's going out with.

So, yeah, she's a victim. It could have been worse, but meh.

Yesterday, I didn't even know this manga existed. I saw chapter 6 was out and thought: "Hm? I don't remember ever reading the 5 previous chapters. Gotta give this a try." So I started reading from chapter 1.

Gosh, am I happy I did!!! This story pushes all my right buttons. Natsume-Kaoru is such a gorgeous peach! The way she rocks the traditional Japanese look (kimono, obi, flowers in her hair) is amazing. It's not often that a mangaka draws a beauty in a kimono and makes her look so stunningly sexy. I'm so jealous of Maki, she's, like, the luckiest chick in the world! (I'll shamelessly admit it: I was immersing myself in the story as Maki all along. Actually, that's probably the right way of reading it as the author intended, haha.)

The happy happy ending is a welcome bonus, too. ^_^v Chapter 5 ended on a sad note, good thing chapter 6 fixed everything! I really couldn't picture this story concluding in any other way but with Natsume-Kaoru and Maki getting together as a real couple. ♡

Btw, it's very unusual for a relatively short story like this one to get 20 pages of comments... it's good to see that, in this forum, quality is appreciated!

I thought it was a good story with a good ending?

It was the story of an adolescent love and lust of a young girl toward an older woman, in an isolated area and an isolated town. And then the story about how they met later in life and recall about their past relationship. With a bit of open ending about how they didn't change much since then, and leave a note on whether they will restart their relationship, or end it as a fond memories.

Was the milf a predator? Is this a fked up take on age age of consent? Did they jay-walking over red light? Frankly who the fk care? If the glorifying of Romeo & Juliet did not turn our parent's generation into a cesspool of pedophile rapist, I don't think a story about random pixels having sex will have any impacts on anyone life
