Don't tell me she dies and then the chick winds up Pregnant with her child? be so cliche if that happens.. lol

Not sure if anyone else has said this yet...but let's take it a step further. She gives birth to the reincarnation of her partner, and they "fall in love". That's just the random half assed theory I'm going with right now :P

A sequel by Taiyaki?

I know it's the typical cliche "tomboy" and "girly girl" look, but something about their designs just feel right. Maybe it's the author's art style?

I think that the art is remarkable.

IMO the artist's secret is how they draw faces. Both protagonists are extremely emotive because the author does not rely on a standardized set of facial expressions but draws them from scratch in almost every situation. Note also how huge their heads are compared to their bodies, even for a manga, -- this gives the author even bigger canvas to register Ise and Shima's minute emotions.

Okay, that was just stupid. She's still breathing, and then 2 seconds later dead? I mean...what the hell was that?

Unfortunately, that is painfully realistic: people just don't fall over dead immediately, but some of their bodily functions try to keep going as long as they can, so even victims with lethal injuries breathe for a bit even while there is literally nothing anyone can do for them. That's why triage exists in the first place. But I do agree with you that, apart from extra realism, it is unclear what the author wanted to achieve with this plot point.

I also have a feeling that these last few chapters are extremely rushed, which probably means the manga is getting the axe and Ogino Jun is desperately trying to cram the rest of the story in the few chapters he has left. This one chapter essentially contains three episodes: Yorino's rescue and loss of an eye; Youko's death and Yorino's breakdown, with the reveal of Manabe's double in the background; and finally the attack on the Bastion and Yorino's return to action.

So, apparently, the apocalypse has destroyed every single supermarket on the planet, but the clocks are still running for them to track time this accurately. If the author cares about setting consistency this little, why didn't they just go for a "two girls on a botched field trip" story instead of post-apocalypse?

Didn't realize the dude was from Nicea...

Bahahahaha Kiwi got put in horny jail

As is the right and proper thing to do.

Oh, and I figured this one out:

Baiser* Bazier doesn't mean anything.

Ah, sorry, I meant Baiser, of course. My brain is melting down rn.

I've been working with Bezier curves a lot recently, which is why every word that goes like "B...er" reads like a French engineer to me.

what do yall think Utena mbti is

Hard to tell since we mostly see Magia Bazier, who has a completely different personality from her civilian self. Bazier, in my book, is either an ESTP or an ESFP, because she is obviously driven by extroverted sensing and ambivalent about the whole thinking/feeling thing.

I dont think she is an extravert, and has a competely diffrerent personality, as Magia Bazier she is just not scared to do what she wants

Utena is an introvert, but Bazier is extroverted because she seeks out other people (magical girls specifically) and is energized by (naughty) interactions with them.

Btw, has anyone else been picking up on the fact that Shy's old caretaker (partially shown at the start of this chapter) was probably Japan's previous heroine?

I think it's probably her older sister she mention in an earlier chapter.

Makes sense. But she could still be her predecessor in superheroics, or am I missing something else?

Time-skip soon?

Or Yorino going ballistic and single-handedly wiping out the entire alternate dimension. I'd prefer that, if only for catharsis...

Was that their first kiss? I can’t remember. But lol I saw the moderate amount of sex tag but I thought there’d be just a little bit more build up. The lack of build up and Maria saying she needed the consolation just as much made me think that it was just comfort-sex, but if that was actually to signify that they’re now on equal footing then that’s cool too.

In fairness I think the entire series was the build up to them having sex. Throughout the series they've gotten hot and heavy, fought with each other, fought against powerful enemies together, all numerous times and now after a build up of emotions from a big series of reveals they just let it all out through intense sex. So personally I'm perfectly fine with the explosive sexual encounter in this chapter, and these reasons are also why I think it's way more than just comfort sex.

Pretty much this. They have been lusting after each other almost from the start, but many things (most of them inside their own heads) prevented them from acting on said lust. And now that the barriers have fallen, their pent-up UST has just blown up.

They just started randomly banging in the church okay lol.

TBH, it could've happened anywhere. Dorothy just happened to be at her mom's church when Maria woke up, which isn't too random, either, given how this is probably the closest Dorothy has to a home.

"Plus they're the perfect size to be hugged!"
"I dunno they're a lot bigger than you, Shima."

Could be implying body pillow is too big for Shima, could be implying Shima is the perfect size to be hugged...

It's funny because the body pillows the two of them chose for themselves both look like each other (the cat looks like Ise, and the rabbit, like Shima). Obliviousness wins the day, I guess...

Ight so you telling me not only she killed Sara in this life, but in many previous ones too, where she always developed that self-destroying Stockholm syndrome (probably a side effect of the toxin) which led her to a young death for "love"

And the author wants us to think it's a cute love story and they truly love each other very much?

I mean, this narrative is a variant of "The Weaver and the Cowherd", which is like THE Asian love story. You can find versions of it in China, both N. and S.Korea and Japan. You might also heard of it through the stars Vega and Altair. Like Romeo and Juliet, just with concept of eternal reincarnation added, so the lovers are connected again and then immediately taken apart. Rinse and repeat forever.

Where it comes to yuri, Kannazuki no Miko and its spin-offs / AU's also use this same concept.

Only difference here is that their time of almost complete separation is finally over, as the curse will be finally lifted.

That's already awfully happy conclusion, to be honest, considering the circumstances. Maybe the author didn't think eternal separation with brief meetings was that romantic of a concept after all, and agrees more with you than you seem to think.

Thank you for explaining the cultural context, I was about to inquire about it. :-)

so presumably it would be the female rules for both if BOTH were female?

Then it wouldn't be "sex", would it? ;-) As @Jananaberry said:

Depends on if the chart is about relationships, marriage, or sex. It's always worth remembering that legally speaking, Japan doesn't recognize anything but coitus as "sex".

Cute girls doing post-apocalyptic things, my favorite genre!

Post apocalyptic survival cooking with my former high school bully?!

…is what this would be called if it was a light novel

Surviving After I Slept Through The End of The World With The Girl I Used To Bully?!?!

Or, if this were a one-shot Twitter manga: I Slept Through The Apocalypse, So The Classmate I Used To Bully Made Me Cookies That Tasted Like Slag.

Every school morals person who appears in manga makes me bewildered because who would actually be so busybody as to want annoy people over that stuff

Well it sounds like in her case she’s less telling people off for the sake of it, but more like warning them so they don’t get held up by teachers. She even says “I don’t care normally but you should probably wear your uniform properly because its an inspection day”

Also this yeah, it's mostly the teachers that care a lot of the time.

Bentham and Foucault would say that by making kids effectively spy on other kids for the adults from early age, the Japanese society continuously reproduces a kind of panopticon that maintains its legendarily restrictive public mores and discipline.

Well, fuck...

You can say that again...

Here goes: Well, shit.

Here is a crazy idea though: What if Yorino manages to subdue the Keiko Double and bring her back to the real world as a POW?

her empty fridge may indicate a basic inability to recognize her body's needs and, hence, a lack of self-care;

omega oof. pain. but like thank you for this info though it's really helpful.

You're welcome. Most of it comes from The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, if you are interested in the actual science of trauma and recovery. :-)

I blame the ending on the big bro being a bro: if the Gyaru hadn't had such an easy and drama-less induction into the world of yuri, then all the drama wouldn't have to build up at the end of the story.
