^I can say Ive not seen that sterotype in Japanese media really, but I have to a degree from American fiction- mostly stuff written 20ish years ago. I got this impression lesbians were seen as sleeping around with each other all the time, cheating, having multiple partners on the go, the uhaul joking etc, and being incapable of settling down for more than a year or 2.. Not all the time, but I certainly came across some stuff like that back then- not sure how common that idea was with certain groups in America.
But I dont recall seeing it in recent years.. maybe I just read different material in different places and its still out there some, in some countries, not sure..
But I agree i've certainly not seen much/any of that attitude in Japanese media- I kind of got the impression the everyday casually disaproving of yuri kind of attitude you might find in their population, was more along the lines of thinking it was 'playing about' and not 'growing up'.
