Marianne is such a lovely girl and its really sad how she is- im glad i got her a happy ending, but its a shame it couldnt be a yuri one!

Im not into fighting games at all, or even any competetive game really- much profer single player or co-op, and I dont really get their mind sets, so I can't relate or say this one interests me much, and the characters didnt grab me either..

But the art is really good, have to say.

^Yup- I assumed they are both married and still with their husbands but they have never been even mentioned let alone shown.. Maybe they are single moms/divorced? Maybe thats why they both moved here.

@Anjelika From the little i've seen suggested in various anime/manga, most circles that are established, who can be fairly sure they will sell all the stuff they print, will for sure make the costs of printing back, AND money towards future costs. I think only new unkown artists/groups are maybe not going to cover their costs at first.

I agree though they dont make enough to cover all the hours they spend making the doujins- not at what you would consider an acceptable wage though- and that for all but the biggest, it cant be a full time job.

Every time I see the mangaka tag, I always end up assuming it's either a. happened to the author or b. a self-insert.

For all we know maybe all female yuri authors who are not already lesbians are using this research method lol?

AS I expected- it looks like the new editor, instead of being some kinda lame rival, she is just gonna be a yuri fan girl who ships then lol :) I think thats deffinatley better.

@Mr. Zilla Im fairly sure it will happen in this series- but ALSO fairly sure we will just see the before and after. Its not the kind of manga to suddenly have an outright sex scene! But I'd be super happy just to see them waking up in bed together naked and knowing they did it.

I mean I know the pronuciation is close- maybe it even IS meant to still be Byleth and thats just as close as you can write it in kana, but if they had translated it as just that, we would be saying it very differently- and a lot worse.

^Yes, she was in THAT case- Im fairly sure the tan cirno meme predates that incident by quite a bit, and was just some bad colouring. I think making her go legit tan due to an incident later down the line was actuially zun playing up to that meme.

^Yup- she can be reliable and cool when she has to be like when she has a child counting on her- but once sakuya grew up to be so good at handling the sdm, it let her be lazy lol.

I guess your experince as a manga artist trying to get published can depend a lot on how good the editors you get assigned to are and if they are putting in any effort for you too.

@random Alice is a youkai if you want to speak broadly I guess- but the peoples from her home realm are refered to as demons right? But Alice is the daughter of Maki's goddess- does that make her different from the normal citizens of Maki? She certainly doesn't seem to be a Godess since she has or needs no faith to sustain herself..
Is there such a thing as half god in Japanese mythology? If Her Mom just wished her into existence she could be any kind of Youkai /being I guess..

All you can say for sure is she isnt human. Or a Goddess probably..

@TopKoak I dont get the impression she is creeping out on her at all- it seems she is just teasing/tormenting/embaressing her for fun. You know what Yuuka is like. Not coming on to her though.

^I can say Ive not seen that sterotype in Japanese media really, but I have to a degree from American fiction- mostly stuff written 20ish years ago. I got this impression lesbians were seen as sleeping around with each other all the time, cheating, having multiple partners on the go, the uhaul joking etc, and being incapable of settling down for more than a year or 2.. Not all the time, but I certainly came across some stuff like that back then- not sure how common that idea was with certain groups in America.

But I dont recall seeing it in recent years.. maybe I just read different material in different places and its still out there some, in some countries, not sure..

But I agree i've certainly not seen much/any of that attitude in Japanese media- I kind of got the impression the everyday casually disaproving of yuri kind of attitude you might find in their population, was more along the lines of thinking it was 'playing about' and not 'growing up'.

@OrangePekoe Sorry about that- I just found it quite interesting and was curious about Japanese naming conventions etc but as you say it went on too long and wasnt exactly on topic.

^Ok, but my point stands still- unless you are Japanese or have researched every Japanese name, you are not always going to know if a name is male or female only. Even after 30 years of reading/watching Japanese media, I can only go on what I've seen before- and a sense of what male and female names sound like- but that can be misleading at times.

I dont recall seeing an Aki before- though I probably have- just not enough to know it was a female only name. It doesn't SOUND particularly feminine or masculine to me. A quick google image search shows me there ARE some male characters called Aki too so there are almost always exceptions. So as a westener not steeped in the culture every day of your life, names are not ALWAYS a clear indicator of gender.

But like I said, thats not the mangaka's fault- I shouldnt expect them to be making things clear to none Japanese people that would be clear to the market it is actually made for.
