^Thanks for the info- I'd gather then if its 'not that simple'- that it DOES follow to a degree in FF pairs where you have no obviously asigned gender role, that on balance the lead will often be taller and the more dominant? It will come through in the dances energy and give a better performance when they are more suitable to a role- even if they trade now and then or one is better.

Not really been following this till now- can I assume whether someone is suitable or wants to be either a lead or a follower is tied to if they are a dominante or submissive kind of person?

And they are. You will see them wrote reign as often as rein - and as they say, written as 'free reign' or 'reign it in' they make no sense- and do the people writing them like that not even realise ?

But they still didnt really explain the metaphor, unless they just assume they dont need to because everyone gets it. And also the balance comment still makes me think they didnt quite get it- the stick and carrot are not CHOICES offered.

Did the translators understand the metaphor for carrot and stick? The chocolate and whip seems identical in effect, and there is no reason for either to have any balance? What balance? They didnt explain it very well in their notes.

Its refering to methods of persuation- of either donkey, or human in the german version.

Its saying which works best as a method of persuation- offering an incentive such as a carrot dangled in front of the donkey, offering chocolate to a human- or will you get better results if you beat the donkey with a stick, or whip the human, till they do what you want? Its not a choice you are giving them.

Or to put simply, the carrot or the stick? Is asking which works best, to reward success, or punish failiure?

^I cant stand having a narrow verticle pic with huge borders as a desktop myself. I wish more pics were fit for desktops.

Some that are square can be clipped easily without compromising the good bits, to fit the width- and sometimes you can easily extend the background to make a square image into a widescreen one- when the background is quite simple you can easily copy/paste, and do some simple touch ups to extend it.

images that are tall though like this- its gonna be even smaller and very thin on a desktop- with WAY too much work needed to extend the ocean background to fill the screens width.

I've probably got about 30 or so images i've made suitable for desktop by making them fit.

I wonder what the origional word used for DOLT was though- was it something archaich/unusual? Dolt is very archaich- I cant remember the last time i ever heard it used- probably 2-3 times in my life- so if its just being used for baka or a common japanese word for idiot, then it seems a strange choice.

p.s Ive come across it a lot more but still rarely, in books and films etc.
