Not any more. The first upload was sorted alphabetically rather than numerically, so pages 10-19 were listed before 2.

I genuinely started laughing as I saw the reveal that Kuzu University is directly next to Reiwa U, unfold. Makino is so fucking smart when she needs to be and she only needs to be smart when she's trying to get a one-over on someone.

A true scum master.

The misogyny in this comments section is nauseating.

wtf are you talking about

Man, I already knew that Arioto made faster progress than ShuuKara, but I'm on the 4th Arioto novel now and man, it's still so true.

ShuuKara: apparently (spoiler glimpses) in college? or beyond? and still not talking about things

Arioto: nearly engaged to be married 6 months in. Also, total sex addicts.

OTOH it feels that both works swap the initial "paid companionship" premise for a BDSM premise, though this is still a work in apparent progress for the ShuuKara I've read (chapter 62 or so), while Arioto is definitely 50% BDSM erotica after novel volume 1.

Huh, the 4th translation is very different from the first three. Has footnotes, regular quotation marks, and the writing so far is a lot better, though still a few suspect points.

Sadly, I think the illustrator is different too.

Guess I'm more tolerant of bad writing when I'm already invested. I like the characters, it's 50% BDSM erotica at this point which I also like, I can mostly figure out what's meant, so powering through...

And then, Chisaki started to stare at my face.
[Eh? Nani?]

Okay, probably not MTL.

joined Jan 14, 2020

may I assume that something is going to happen to her life once she turns 18? Is it something to do with arranged marriage?

Based on the content of the chapter, mostly likely she's just trying to "catch up" to her sister. Her sister ran away for love at 18, Asako wants to at least understand love by 18.

It's not pure MTL, there are translator notes. Beyond that, who knows.

Dang, LN2 takes a weird twist near the end. The whole Sae thing.

Some character thoughts:

Shiho: can you imagine going on vacation with her? She seems the type to plan for 26 [sic] hours of activity in a day. An attack dog approach to having fun. Then again, the glimpses of her in SSGirls did seem calmer; maybe dating Aki will mellow her out. That said, good luck to Aki: Shiho seems likely to be stuck at 100% in whatever she does, and emotionally volatile to boot. I won't accuse her of random mood swings, but hypersensitive to little things like "you looked at Asanagi for 0.1 seconds too long". I hope I'm wrong, but the greatest enemy of Shiho's happiness has been and will always be Shiho.

Himari: So while I was thinking about Shiho, I had the thought that Hima is similar in a way. This seems odd as they're very different: Hima lack's Shiho's sarcasm, bitterness, competitiveness, and self-destructive qualities, and it seems odd to call Hima an attack dog. Hima's a sweet little cutie. But she's also direct, maybe even more so than Shiho. Hima wants something, Hima goes for something. Hima wants to say something, Hima says something, with only an explicit "SECRET desu" filter to stop her. Heck, sometimes she even blurts out inner thoughts. She dithered about her relationship with Yori because she was genuinely unsure what she felt. The moment she decided, she pushed her way through to confess in front of an entire stage audience, if Aki hadn't stepped in to shoo them outside. Action follows clear intent without any pause to gather courage or think about what society thinks. Nina Iseri would give two pinkies up in approval.

If Himari ever decides she actively wants sex, rather than being willing to let it happen ("I'm even wearing cute underwear just in case"), Yori's getting ravished next chance they get, and Hima will probably make the chance.

Huh, early in the second novel we learn Aya's hair is dyed, she's not just manga-light.

^TL Vol 1-5: https://nyaa.si/view/1764195

Thanks.

On the one hand I'm glad they're translated at all.

On the other, ouch, this person was not good at English. Or is it MTL?

"I hate you!"
"I hate you more!"
they fuck

Twist: we'll learn Komaki actually is an angel with reality-warping powers...

For those who were following the good LN translation, but didn't 'subscribe' to Wordpress, the translation has resumed, probably at a lower (less burnout) pace.

It would be pretty difficult, since I don't think the sex should be cut out.

Valkyrie Drive and Gushing Over Magical Girls prove you don't have to cut out the sex... not that I understand how either one got made.

I'm pretty sure we have gotten some yuri/GL official manga releases with sex scenes, but I'm pretty sure no official LNs.

Which seems weird because it's usually easier to get away with things in print. AIUI, US YA (young adult) novels have included fairly explicit stuff for a while, while a sex comic with teens feels like it would call down the Moral Police.

any yuri LN with sexual content licensed for English release,

MagiRevo and WataOshi have sex, though I forget if it's as sensual as the early shenanigans of ShuuKara.

As for the story, I'm holding out for the human translator to resume work, I hope they do.

maybe it was only obvious from internal dialogue

novel spoilers: I dunno, both characters are so self-unaware or self-dishonest that even with alternating first person POV, it's unclear -- even to themselves, apparently -- why they do much of what they do. Felt like it took a while for it to be clear "both their home lives suck, Miyagi's lonely and Sendai's is suffocating, so toxic dickery is actually an improvement for both of them." And then when things ramped up, well, Sendai was just starting to get a clue when the decent translation stopped.

Just found this. Reminds me of Blue Star.

I'm very confused by the school situation though. Chapter 1 has a line about going between classes, dorm, and home. Little brother says his sister talks about Wannian every night at dinner. Do they... go home from school to eat dinner, then go back to sleep at the school?

Chapter 1 had MC telling Wannian about AC (tiny A/C for a curtained bunk? Bad translation for a fan?) but the later chapters have a line about the school being to too cheap for A/C. (Which has got to be hellish -- 4 bodies in a small room in Shanghai summer?)

I just discovered https://dynasty-scans.com/series/give_my_heart_to_you

It feels similar in some ways to Blue Star. Though probably not as well done; not as tightly detailed, and the whole school situation is confusing to me. (Maybe I just don't know Chinese schools.)

Manga without smut about teenagers with good drawing style

I should say that Blue Star's art style isn't nearly as dramatic as Greenie, and a bunch of the characters are only subtly different visually -- I can tell them apart now, but I paid attention. (I also posted character guides and summaries in the comment thread for the manga.)

Another nice teen non-smut story is https://dynasty-scans.com/series/anemone_is_in_heat

They also move at about the same rate! So...very...slowly.

Hmm. In sheer page count... Green does 4 pages a week, so about 200 pages a year. That's slow compared to pro mangaka ruining their health, but 16 pages a month is pretty good for a Western webcomic. 91 chapters so far, so 364 pages.

Blue Star the past couple years has been doing about 3 chapters a year, of like 35-45 page lengths. Some of the earlier chapters were more like 20 pages, though... One could say 17*30 = 510 pages as a lower bound, huh.

For major event timing, (Blue Star spoilers): one-way confession by the end of chapter 7, so like 210 pages, Green hasn't gotten there, hell Green hasn't had 100% confirmation of romantic feelings even. Blue Star took under 30 pages for Umi to be lustfully gaaaaaay. 19 pages for her to freak out at seeing Shou's bra.

So, Blue Star feels slow because we get 3 big chapters over winter and then have to waiiit. And it is slower than a weekly manga or even a 20-page monthly one. Greenie has modest regular output, but we're at the equivalent of 9-18 longer chapters (40-20 pages), and we're arguably still in the subtext zone. Which, I dunno, maybe isn't that slow. Definitely slower than some, though.

I won't pass up a chance to recommend my other favorite, The Blue Star On That Day: https://dynasty-scans.com/series/the_blue_star_on_that_day_ano_koro_no_aoi_hoshi

Hah, as the local obsessive analyst of that manga, I can hardly disagree!

It does have a couple similarities with Green. A couple of teen girls figuring out love in a mundane world. (Rather faster at it, too.) More unusually, a high degree of visual background detail that rewards careful re-reading, possibly even more so than Green. You can read it easily for the main story, then read it again and notice what other characters are doing or emoting on the side.
