Well, the last page leaves an opening. Hayakawa is still attracted to Nakamukai.

On the condition that she doesn't love her

Is Mikanuji trying to be Kodama Naoko though?

It's becoming quite a STRETCH.

Looks like it's ending.

I'm afraid she's too late. Asahi already chose someone else.

Amazing art, as always. But the plot is confusing.

I'd buy that.

They'd need a credit card, but in manga world, everything is possible.

Of course, the girl who kisses her out of the blue had to be a foreigner. Only a foreigner would do that.

"In America, it's a greeting"

Still, the portrayal of lesbians in this is pretty ambiguous. The porn angle is a bit too pronounced for a romcom. It's like it doesn't know what it wants to be: A romcom? A lecture about how gay people feel? With a dose of ecchi/kinky to arouse the readers?

It's all over the place.

Was really hoping the young miss would have be killed in a peasant revolt, guess we can't all get happy endings

Uh, no. It's a bad end you're describing.

If you think about it, she left her estate to go live with Maria, so the peasants are rid of her.

And Maria and her are now happy.

Can't have a more perfect end.

I'm too immersed in the story that I didn't notice the large spoon and knife in the background while they're talking

Did someone say big spoon ?

There's no spoon.

I have to admit that the way Mikanuki draws hands is distracting.

And the side faces too, sometime look like some kind of cyclops.

Other than that, the story is cute and the title was clever.

Utena x Azul is practically canon at this point.

It's already completed at 8 fucking volumes.

This release schedule is torture.

Sipping wine with an eyepatch, while looking at a screen. So badass.

That was super cute.

It's not that bad. The whole thing is contrived, but it's probably because of the one-shot format and the page number limitations.

But the scene in the school infirmary is somewhat hot.

I don't expect something in Avalon Bitter to be all fluff.

You can feel the drama/tragedy building up...

Page 23: "You've coming" should be "You've come".

This manga should be named Nakano's harem.

I'm glad this chapter shed a little more light on Arata's situation; people were dunking on him pretty hard after the first chapter but I get the feeling that he's just as tired of going through the motions as Yukako. He can't even hang out with his 1 friend at work without someone making a big deal out of it.

Arata's situation illustrates something feminism knew very well in the 60s (before it got corrupted and rotten) that is: men are also victims of the capitalist-patriarchal social establishment, and suffer because of it as much as women.

I wouldn't go that far. Some men eventually suffer, because it's a "dog eat dog" system and those at the bottom of the hierarchy are not in a good position, but most of the "capitalist-patriarchal social establishment" is heavily skewed in their favor. They just have to navigate with the flow and everything becomes a lot easier. That Arata guy just has to drop his friend (who he uses to make himself feel better anyway) and pretend to be a predator among predators and everything will get better. The system favors men who follow its "rules".

A woman, on the other hand, has to struggle a lot more and abandon a lot more to be acknowledged. And even then the system is actively putting her down, so it's never enough.

So, don't put the struggle of men and women on the same level.
