I expected them to leave the question of whether or not she was actually the cat ambiguous and I think that probably would have been a better ending really.

More like pointless and jarring external conflict in a manga that already has plenty of reasonable conflicts to work with.

Given the double-plus ungood nature of their relationship, it's not really that bizarre that they're coming under outside pressure.

I mean it's pretty bizarre that that pressure is in the form of a grade schooler who talks like a shonen anime villain.

Pointless drama in a relatively innocent manga?

I want you to look at the first several dozen pages and tell me if it was easy to get to the point to call this manga "relatively innocent", as an audience.

Good luck with that kid you're like 12 there's not really a heck of a lot you can do to affect Mimika in any way that she doesn't allow which is the whole reason the dynamic between her and Yuzumori is worrisome in the first place.

Can we stop calling a teenage girl a slut now?

I do worry that Yuzumori will get pulled aside by a teacher for the things she's written about spending summer with Mimika.

I don't think a teacher would be too concerned in this case pretty much exclusively because while Mimika is a teenager she's a teenage GIRL so if anything it comes off more as a kind of role model relationship than anything untoward.

Jesus the art makes Minami look absolutely feral when she's upset which is basically all of the time.

I much prefer the "just ship the three of them together" approach to resolving that particular conflict.

No, Izumi literally rejected her point-blank and she respected that like any decent human being would. Like, you seem to think respecting the wishes of the people you care about translates to a lack of dedication when in reality it means you care about them enough to put their wants ahead of your own.

Except Izumi didn't reject her point blank. She accepted the ribbon at first and eventually gave it back, Amane then put in zero effort to see if she could change her mind. Amane is as flaky as they come, she easily falls in love and just as easily falls out.

She gave it back with a pretty clear and concise "Thanks, but no thanks there's someone else I love" and it would have been really insensitive to try to "change her mind" about that. One of Amane's clearest traits is her strong respect for how and who other people love probably because she knows how much it sucks when she's disrespected for how she does. She trusts that people know what they want better than she does and doesn't try to impose her desires upon them.

If Amane were flighty she wouldn't have gone out of her way to fight for her relationship with Nina despite Nina going out of her way to be as difficult as possible she would have said "Oh, well what can you do" and moved on to someone else. Just because she is romantically attracted to multiple partners doesn't mean she isn't dedicated to those partners.

Except she did exactly that with Izumi. Amane shows no dedication at all to the girls she likes. Even with Nina, Amane is completely fine with breaking up as long as it's what Nina wanted.

Amane is still a weak link in this, I feel. She's too flighty.
It wouldn't take much to collapse this dynamic down to a monogamous relationship between Nina and Ryou. I get the feeling Nina's feelings toward Ryou might be stronger than her feelings for Amane. And Ryou just seems the type to go along with however the situation unfolds. The stayer.
A triangle is a stable shape, but it has three times as many bonds to break.

I'm all for a poly relationship if it makes sense for the characters, but if it's just for the sake of having a poly relationship, i'll rather see the cat lovers together. I agree with Nya-chan here, Amane feels cold and distant with her "lovers," so far it feels like she just likes to fool around with them and nothing more than that.

Or maybe she keeps them at arms length because of exactly what's happening with Yuunagi: she's worried about what happens when they try to force her to choose between them and who she is. It's not fun falling in love with someone only to have to end it with them because they keep trying to change you to suit their desires.

It'd be quite funny if at the end of the day, it was Amane, the polyamorous, who was left out because she failed to commit to anyone.

If by funny you mean tired bullshit. I'll be deeply unimpressed if this ends in monogamy.

Yuzumori is Lolita reincarnated confirmed.

Not really a comparable situation. Lolita was about a middle aged man preying on a child and rationalizing it by portraying himself as the victim of a worldly seductress when in fact he was just a pedophile trying to absolve himself of his crimes. Yuzumori and Mimika are both children and though there is a concerning age gap between them it's nowhere near as blatantly predatory as the dynamic between Humbert and Dolores and it literally could never be because Mimika is not Yuzumori's middle-aged stepfather.

hurray for this manga and congrats to the mothers-to-be!

so this question is for those that may have more direct knowledge. has society and the laws in Japan changed enough that a noticeable number of lesbians and gays are now having children? i'm also curious how the children are entered into the family registry (which appears to be addressed in a later chapter)? finally, has any new LGBT legislation (other than city ordinances) percolated to the national level addressing marriage equality?

Japanese societal mores move about as fast as molasses in winter.
