I’m so pleased we have an ace tag now! I hope we will see some more content falling under that tag in the future, and hopefully some other works that deal with ace themes with nuance AND some good ol’ SFW fluff.

In my headcanon, these two go on to live together and go on dates to their favorite places (I feel like Asahi would geek out at the zoo or the aquarium). They cook each other meals and watch movies together and support each other when they’re feeling down. And maybe the mom comes to visit more often and even starts fussing over Asahi now and then? That’s my self-indulgent fluffy continuation of this story.

As an ace and demi person, this story is exactly what I want in a relationship. Being able to say “I may not be able to do what normal lovers do, but you are very important to me and I want to have you in my life.” It was like the mangaka looked into my heart and pulled out my deepest desires and drew them.……..I wonder if she’s single? XD

I love idiot couples at all stages of their relationships, but the best is an idiot couple that continues to get super embarrassed over tiny things. It’s been helpful for me to think of all the themes I want to include in a story. I get a kind of general idea of what I want to happen, and then I write the pieces that come most naturally to me. Once my brain switches into “writing mode” I tend to only want to write, and I neglect everything else.

Oh, I also love planning a plot using a spreadsheet so that I can interweave a lot of separate story threads. That was a big breakthrough for me when I started using that!

If Mitsuki was trans, the story could still follow a pretty similar progression without changing that much. The tomboy identity and the nerd identity are like two separate people, and it seems fairly clear that Mitsuki is more comfortable when she can present a little more masc :) Even though she's not trans, there are a lot of parallels you could draw!
