Yeah I'm still on the don't give a fuck about Sumin train right now. Pretty much every non-Sungji character I just don't care about seeing lol... I'm ready for the "Sungji adorably reads the phone book" chapter. I'd buy it. Sumin was really a lot of people's favorite character for the longest time (several saying they just wanted a happy ending for her and the rest didn't matter), but I think recent stuff with Seju has tempered that sentiment.

yeah tbh... I care more about Seju being happy than Sumin being happy... and Sumin might be super cool but after this I prefer Sungji too; I also think I'm right about her not being as clueless and being more insecure/worrisome than she seems and I want to see that... also her parents... it's suspicious they don't appear. Omg! I just thought! Maybe Sungji is so supportive with Sumin keeping secrets because... she also has hers!!! O_O omgoshhhhhhh

I almost had a heart attack with this one because I kept getting some errors, I managed to submit 3 MINUTES BEFORE THE DEADLINE. Though I missed a little thing because I forgot to add one file in the folders but hopefully it's not a big deal... I was just sad because that was the funniest part... ;_;
anyway... I need to go to the supermarket to buy toiler paper but I'm really tired ;_; I went yesterday already and the day before too... yesterday I went to buy toilet paper too but I got distracted buying foods >.> and I forgot >.> oh, gosh... as I said before it will only be because they will be irrelevant if they don't show Sungji. And no, not because there won't be Sungji x Sumin; I actually think that's possible. But if Sumin leaves Sungji to go back to Seju then Sungji won't be very relevant... unless she turns psycho or sth >.> Therefore it could only happen in the end... But even then that would make Sungji seem like just a plot device that made Seju and Sumin get back together and not an actual protagonist which is why I think it would be a mistake. Sungji as a protagonist makes much more impact.
Sumin doesn't have to be with someone in order to not suffer. Also we still don't know whose healing story it is. They could all walk away from each other and decide that is the best healing.

They have used a lot of fist clenching shots in the past when a character is suffering deep internal turmoil over something that is happening. Every one of the main three has done it. Seju for instance had the exact same shot of her hands when Nami was in her office gloating about Sumin moving on from her.

In terms of development for Sunji, I think we might be starting to get some. How she replied to getting bitten by the cut dog "I'm use to it". That moment and reply could have been meant as metaphor for her relationship with Sumin (something that seems cute/adorable turns out to hurt her when she reaches out).

Omg yes!! But I think it might not only be related to Sumin... We still have that issue with her parents... I think her parents might have been abusive... I mean they are never shown; maybe Gaji did on purpose to reveal in near the end! it's so suspicious that we never see them, I mean, not even their body or sth.

I think we have a long way to go... Sungji obviously means what she says in this chapter and feels that her current tactic is the best approach to staying with Sumin.

I wounder what 'the twist' in the story is. I honestly think it's as simple as Seju being in the story. The initial assumption that Chapter 1 sets up is that Seju is the present Girlfriend of Sumin and Sumin is feeling conflicted about being attracted to the new girl at the office, until the end of the chapter where it reveals that Seju and Sumin are in fact current Exs.

Btw, it really irritates me how Sumin says that about giving her good memories. What, so she only wants to be a memory to her? I tried to see it as in her thinking she wants Sungji to have good memories of the first things they did together but... it seems like Sumin has already decided they're gonna break up at some point. I'm perplexed how this doesn't seem to bother Sungji. Maybe she's too blind and only sees what I mentioned before...

Faylicia, could you tell me what the "Mary Sue" thing from your point of view? For me, I think it's about wish-fulfillment characters, so I don't find it disappointing if Sungji end up being one.

no it's not like that. I think of Mary Sue as someone who would never get mad and is portrayed as being perfect for the most part; I'm not saying sungji is like that. I just don't want her to turn out to be like that; she has worries too, it would either be unrealistic for her to not address them (making her a Mary Sue) or it would mean she's a hypocrite. Not for now, I mean if things get worse anyway. If Sumin tells her she loves Seju and Sungji tries to support her that'd make her a Mary Sue... I doubt anyone could ever do such a selfless thing and it's probably even wrong to do so especially when the person in question has hurt you... aaaand I'll stop before I go essay mode, I've been writing all night ;_; I need some sleep.

I think Seju would be just fine but I have the impression that if Sumin breaks it off with Sungji it won't be to go back to Seju... It kind of feels off to me... that sort of ending? it's like "oh okaaa-aaaaay?" '-' I mean even if it happens in the end it still leaves Sungji a bit out of it. It's like okay, you just developed this character for nothing? I mean after the ending if Sumin goes back to Seju we won't see Sungji anymore and having random chapters of her would just be bad writing I think. Unless Sungji really turns out to be a Mary Sue... -.- Or well maybe once Sumin goes back to Seju the story will just cut to Sungji and never show Sumin and Seju again instead!! Do you know Hoshi wa Utau? It has a bit of a similar narrative... you should check it out, you will see what I mean. But there at least the protagonist and the narrator are the same and we mostly see her POV so it's not as confusing and hard to pin down like WDTFS.

Sungji having no meaning in this story wouldn't have to do with her not ending up with Sumin. It will be because of her character development. If Sungji stays relevant only because she ends up with Sumin and nothing more, then this is a very bad treatment to her character.
It reminds me of some people who have nothing outside their relationship. So her not ending up with Sumin is not the problem of her character becoming irrelevant, or her character losing its importance.

Yes you are right. But this is a story; not real life, it follows a narrative and a plot. Sungji can very well be a wonderful person but the plot is about her relationship with Sumin and Sumin's relationship with Seju (and all that -3-, sorry if I left sth out). If she becomes irrelevant to the plot she becomes irrelevant to the story. We can't have random spin off of Sungji's life that have nothing to do with the main narrative. Sungji doesn't particularly have to end up with Sumin to stay relevant; there are other ways to go about it but none of those include Sumin and Seju getting together any soon at the very least.

But she keeps saying how it's ok that Sumin keeps secrets from her. I mean, it's good to give Sumin some space, for how long can she keep doing that. If they are endgame, there is some serious work to be done between them until the end of the story, rather than always drawing them have sex or only fluffy stuff.
This is what I've always been wondering. Even if they end up together on last chapter, would they be able to stay together for much longer too? Their base doesn't seem too strong until now, and I think Gaji has wasted some chapters into meaningless things. Maybe they needed fillers, or they did it for fanservice. Or maybe a very very small chance, to show how Sumin still kept on thinking of Seju even then. We'll find out I guess.

I don't think it's to show that Sumin kept thinking of Seju... yes partly but definitely not only for that. She wouldn't have included all those cues about Sungji. Sungji would have been much more 1 dimensional.

As for Seju, it is her fault too for waiting for Sumin. She should have considered moving on way before that. Girl you have money, go find a therapist. But I can see why she did it, and her situation is difficult already. Sumin was the only good thing she had in her life, which is very tragic.

Every character has their own reasons for doing the things they do, and like Gaji said, the fox is whoever the people want it to be. So all of the three are important.

I still don't think Sungji is going to support Sumin with her love towards Seju. Can you imagine yourself doing that? The best thing someone can do is tell them to follow their heart and then disappear from their life. She wouldn't stay there supporting her. But since this is supposed to be a healing story it doesn't make much sense to see Sungji disappear like that and it also doesn't make sense to see her suffering and healing afterwards because there aren't enough chapters for that if you add a bunch of Sumin x Seju! However! if Sumin ends up alone and everyone heals on their own and Sungji starts talking to Seju and becomes closer to her that'd make more sense. And it could be an open ending were all of them have kind of moved on from the past and are ready to have a relationship... and what that relationship will be is up to the reader. Honestly I feel like something mindblowing like this might happen... I'm very TeamBlonde but yeah >.>
To sum up I'm not sure TeamPink is what the author is going for. TeamPink means Sungji is largely a plot device and there are a lot of cues that show she isn't. She seems like a Mary Sue who has 0 development and all that... But honestly; there are way too many scenes with her and Sumin. Why would TeamGaji add all those for if they planned to make Sumin return to Seju? There seems to be a gap there. But most importantly, as I mentioned before Sungji is mysterious purposely. She has a background drawn for her. We know her friends, that she lives with her family and we know some of her childhood... We never have her POV when she's with Sumin though. And we still have those cues... But you know for me, I think the biggest proof is that chapter she had about her childhood; it felt incomplete somehow -> she doesn't like people staring at her and she doesn't like rushing things? how does this relate to anything? do you understand how it feels a bit random? it makes me think that it has a continuation... that we will at some point see Sungji and I feel like there will be a chapter with her POV and everyone will be like O_O and also what if she comes off as... slightly creepy when that happens? Like, maybe a bit like Seju.
Um... relationships don't have to be all serious and angsty to be deep; yes Sungji doesn't know much about Sumin's past but what she likes is Sumin's personality. She knows past relationships don't matter in general. In this case they do but still. Knowing someone's past can help you guess their future actions but not always... I don't agree with her not making questions. I'm just saying I don't think their relationship is as superficial as some say. But yes, it'd be deeper if Sumin shared her worries; at least parly.

I wonder how Sungji will react when Sumin tells her that she is still in love with Seju. Sungji looks like a kind of person who would cheer Sumin on imo. I can't imagine her being there clinging to Sumin after knowing the truth. The mature Sungji seems really cool. In a triangular relationship, the coolest one is highly likely to end up alone.

Sungji imo is just too perfect/innocent or the way Team Gaji portray her so far. (yeah Mary Sue) I don't know sometimes she feels empty/blank to me. I mean, Sumin and Seju has a more interesting background story to tell than Sungji. who has live a normal life except now lol. I understand why Seju had fallen in love with Sumin but Sungji. (love at first sight? or doesn't even have an idea what's love at age 24 lol) the believability of Sungji's character is just isn't there while Sumin and Seju is more realistic.

on the future chap. yeah, I think Sumin will break it off with Sungji to be fair with her and not to deepen their relationship any further cause it will hurt Sungji more in the long run. especially, when she found out the truth about Seju. maybe then. we will see the other side of Sungji. I really can't wait when the three of them confront each other.

I have no idea how they're going to shift Sungji's behavior though; she seems really sweet right now. She'd probably be more shocked than mad if Sumin broke it off with her right now; so something else has to happen. I have the feeling that Sungji might somehow come across Sumin's past. Seju might tell her something which will in turn make her ask questions even though she wants to wait for Sumin she will not able to once she realizes what's really going on.
