Well, it's not really confirmed, but, eh, yeah, I guess Pharmercy's probably going down. It's not like anyone actually expected it to happen though so, oh well, what can we do. Fanart will always exist even if canon acceptance doesn't.

Having looked at at least one of the articles and listening to the actual dialogue, it's literally just Mercy and Genji giving each other chocolate with seemingly no romantic overtones in the delivery. I mean, it could just be a hint of what'll actually happen with the full event, but they're supposed to be friends and it is a Valentines event, so it could easily be nothing.

Yea, I do think it was a bit of an over reaction. There really was no romance hinted, I was just confused by the number of articles written for such an insignificant thing.

Far as I can see, Blizz really isn't into heroes having relationships with other heroes outside of Pharah and Ana's family connection. Some are buddies, but generally those with romantic connections are paired with civilians. As for Genji and Mercy, it's not like he doesn't have other reasons to give her chocolates.
I am amused that a lot of the "Tracer kissing Emily doesn't mean she's queer" crowd are totally on board with "Chocolates mean destined romance".

It's just some Swiss chocolates... can everybody chill? Besides Blizzard promised we gonna get more LGBT characters (aside from Zarya and Tracer) and the whole Shimada drama must be based on some unfortunate events connected to the family honor (Genji's queerness for example). Am I the only one thinking this?

Yeah, if you pay attention to the dialogue, it sounds like it can just be two close friends giving each other chocolate or it's one-sided on Genji's part. But it seems like Blizzard is REALLY trying to push for Gency right now. Either way, I'm disappointed, but I'm not angry. If there IS something I'm mad at, it's Blizzard's poor way of not letting the audience know sooner so that the backlash could at least be somewhat less hostile and outraged. It's been a pain in the ass--on both the pro- and anti-Pharmercy sides--to deal with.
And yeah, there's a lot of "TRACER'S NOT GAY" stans celebrating the fact that Genji and Mercy are giving each other chocolates. Ugh...really lets you know what kind of people they actually are.

Most of people's reactions to those lines come from the fact the lead writer has admitted himself to really like Gency and thus, people are understandably worried about the guy subtly pushing his preferred ship.
