I think I prefer that while the horned girl's hands aren't normal for her kind, the one dressed as a schoolgirl (maybe teleported from our world?) fell in love with her just as she is, and has helped her now-girlfriend accept herself. And maybe by doing so, she's found her place in this new world.

To me she looks like a stone gargoyle though anthropomorphised. Mainly think that because of the feet and it looks like she's clenched her hands so can't see if those are claws.

Temple guardian, I'm liking that. Possibly the hands and perhaps feet are not typical of her people, but either something that shows they're chosen for that duty, or else something that happens to prepare them for it. I still see the skirt girl as coming from our world, though.

How do you know the hands aren't flexible? How do you know they're made of stone and don't just look similar? If we're going to go with stone and normal, non-fantasy things, how does the blue girl even lift that hand, or move from that spot without dislocating her arms? I think you're approaching this pic in very much the wrong way.
As to the gym bag, it could be something she was carrying when she came to the world, and she hangs onto it and her uniform as the only tangible reminders she has of home.
