@Demon Beast:
Don't let that influence your opinion of dubs. The recent redub had a lot of love and effort into it.

@colboh
It was really just the start for me. Once I discovered anime was from Japan and not the United States when I was 12, I made it a mission to rewatch most of the anime that was on Tv in Japanese. I found that majority of the voice actors for dubs do not fit the characters. I love Michiru's voice in Japanese than the dub, but it really comes down to preference. Subs just do it better, imo, except if the character is high pitched or squeeky. Can barely tolerate that in either.

@Demon Beast: Not all Anime Dubs are bad, but many have this odd misconception of Americansing Anime they dub, and in the process remove much of the culture it portrays, despite the fact that not doing so would allow those watching to possibly learn about another culture. Not helping matters is the fact that some Dubbing companies apply a mindset of making it appropriate for kids, but this ends up dumbing down most aspects, and as a result it's too childish for kids. Sure, taking out violence and cursing makes sense, but they tend to take away from how serious a scenario is, and far too often add in bad comedy. And many times they also completely change, and even ruin characters. Jack Atlas is a good example. This pretty damn ironic considering American Cartoons were allowed to portray themselves seriously without much issue, and the past five years have produced some of the smartest and most mature cartoons. And there are Dubbing Companies who understand how the process of dubbing should go, like FUNimation, who just literally dub over the characters with English Voice Actors. If anything should be changed, it's plot problems that are spotted. FUNimation did this once, explaining that Vegeta couldn't destroy a meteor because he was exhausted from his High-Gravity Training,
