Owner/operator of yuri-ism scans here. I wasn't expecting a sticky, but I'll answer a few questions.

1: Yes, Isya speaks ok English, enough to talk and understand, but not enough to translate herself. You can check out her English ama she did awhile back. http://ask.fm/isya_434notfound

  1. Yes her works will be provided as digital releases that you can download.

  2. We will not be providing books for any of her precure doujins. We will on originals though. The reason for this is because Japanese copyright and American copyright are two different things. Japanese copyright chooses to ignore doujins, US copyright may not. I've talked to the 2 biggest English hentai book companies and both have told me that they cannot print parody doujins. I'm aware doujinpress does, but what they do isn't really legal, they put up a legal page that essentially says "don't sue us, we're not printing very many, it's not worth your time." this doesn't work for bigger companies. As they aren't going to limit their sales to appease such a thing.

tl;dr only books for original doujins

  1. We are doing this free, myself and the yuri-ism staff are doing this on our own time and are not being compensated for it. I have a lot of respect for her and want to help her, we've talked with isya a few times before and would not wish to ask to be paid.

  2. Releases may take awhile because she is choosing to redo all sfx in English, and by in English I mean draw it herself, even the moans!. I'm curious to see how long that goes lol.

Thank you for your answer. This is really great.
You're right, Japanese IP rights owners choose to ignore doujins, but of course they can sue doujinka whenever they feel like.

Is there really a difference between distribution of digital and physical copies as far as copyrights are concerned? Why the format would have an impact on the fact that we get in the distribution channel of contents for which we do not own the IP rights?

5) Wow, this woman impresses me.

Really interesting. If she wants to reach the "foreigners" that we are, then she's on the right track!
One question though, is Yuri-ism offering help for free?

Harumin and Matsuri, a Highschool girl and a Middleschool girl. Wonderful...

Did they give away their "real" age?
It's still Ok"(ish)", if we imagine Matsuri to be 14/15, and Harumin to be ~16.

I almost didn't recognise Harumin...
It's a "special" chapter, isn't it?
Which means that whatever happened there, it might have absolutely no impact on the main scenario.

I don't know if this is the right place for this.
(Apologies if that's not the case)

In the [Images] section, when clicking on a specific image to get access to its full size and comments field, do we have the possibility to switch from an image to another without having to go back to the main gallery?

When reading a manga, we have the possibility to click right or left, or have arrows keys being detected to virtually turn pages. If we consider the [Images] gallery to be a kind of photobook, could a similar concept be applied?

Thks.

Fuck no, I hate Tumblr. However, when it comes to fictional pornography created to get people off, the rules are a little different than in reality. Obviously in real life it is far worse to be raped than to be disrespected but hentai isn't real, its a fantasy created for the purpose of fapping. Because of this, rape in hentai is actually less offensive than disrespecting your female lead, as rape is an act and thus within the context of hentai is purely fictional; You can't hurt someone if they aren't real.

Be aware that, depending on the country you are living in, the law may have a different interpretation as far as this matter is concerned.

I just died laughing when I hit the punchline in this chapter. xP

Also, why oh why is Yuri Hime the only yuri magazine that can stay afloat? (Not that I'm complaining about Yuri Hime! I'm just greedy and want more yuri. :P)

Viva Hirari, viva! You fought the good fight. You will be missed.

Well we don't even know if yuri hime is actually profitable...

Hundreds of magazines fold after just a handful of issues. Hundreds more release steadily without ever really changing their formula or content level. Everything Ichijinsha has done suggests Yuri Hime makes at least decent profit for them. Examples: Undergoing re-branding (from Yuri Shimai to Yuri Hime), breaking out into new magazines (S, Wildrose, Petit), upgrading from quarterly issue to bi-monthly, expanding page count (after S merged, and steadily since), etc.

Also, why oh why is Yuri Hime the only yuri magazine that can stay afloat?

One word: Citrus

Two words: Yuru Yuri. I'm sure Citrus is doing quite well for itself, but even if you combine that and the other 2nd-tier series YH has (Yuri Danshi), I think you'd be hard-pressed to argue they bring in more revenue than yuri's ultimate cash cow.

I wonder what kind of contract mangakas sign with publishing houses.
When the magazines just disappear because are considered not profitable enough, do they keep the manga's intellectual property rights?
So the mangaka cannot even continue publishing the rest of the story elsewhere?

I swear to god if the next chapter, they're back to school or something and not still getting ready for bed, I'ma be so mad. They don't need to show the actual sex but I AT LEAST wanna see the cute shit right before it!

Agree.
Enough of this teasing.

That's Yui_7's style: adults' drama.
Maybe she's putting in manga her friends' stories or maybe she's trying to fixe some of her own scars.
To be honest, apart from her Kantai work, her characters are generally realistic and pretty dark.
Well, like in real life, yuri is not always about good endings.

Oshima Tomo, of NicoMaki fame (or infamy), used to use the name (or is actually named?) Mitsuki Nikaidou. She also used the pen name Narusawa Meguru.

Nikaidou Mitsuki's credited with being Oshima Towa's "partner" (相方... read into that what you will) and helping her a lot with her manga - not exactly an "assistant" in the regular sense because she seemed to do a lot more than an assistant would. You can definitely see the art style similarity, particularly if you look at Tomo's earlier solo releases, probably because she's had to draw like Towa for a long time!

Sweet Pea is Tomo's circle, and Cocoa Break is Towa's circle. They used to do some releases together, to the extent that they share an artist category on Tora no Ana, but nowadays they make a distinction between the two. Possibly because Tomo apparently likes to draw a tonne of lesbian porn and Towa doesn't seem to. XD

They live together! You can see the photos of their cats on their Twitter. Tomo's kitty, Potechi, is the cutest. And I've read some blog articles in Japanese where people HAVE confirmed that they are two different people, having seen them both in person together.

... I swear to god I didn't go and stalk them for a few hours one day... I mean... Why... Would ... I have done that...

Marvellous, thank you for the answer.
Don't worry, I wouldn't judge if you were a stalker because, I...sometimes...I mean...it's just so... tempting to know...

Could somebody tell me the difference between Ooshima Tomo and Ooshima Towa (Cocoa Break)?
Same person, different pen names or?
"Sweat Pea" being their "Circle"'s name?

Same here.
I even watched the movie to have a better understanding of the context.
But no need, doujinshi are sometimes just better than the originals...

Really good.
About people having the feeling that it's a bit rapey...
Well, from my perspective, it simply looks like a little sexy game between a tsundere and a girl knowing that she is :)
